Hi ufoundlou, I've just had a look at TravelSim FAQ's and wonder whether you have followed their instructions?
How do I call someone from my TravelSIM?
The Golden Rule: Always dial the full international number no matter what country you are calling from, or what country you are calling to.
Step 1 Dial the number you wish to call in full international format.
Step 2 Press the call button
Step 3 In a few seconds your phone will ring
Step 4 Answer this call
Step 5 You will hear a recorded voice that gives your credit balance and then you will be connected to the number you called.
Hint: When calling someone in the same country as you, always dial as though you are calling from outside the country.
I've never used their SIM but they say all calls start with dial numbers 372.
When I visit Australia (Qld) my 2 Degrees SIM from NZ works fine. It automatically swiches between Optus & Telstra depending on signal strength. I don't have to alter APN's.
From Huawei U8800 User Manual:
7.1.1 Checking the Network Connection
1. Touch > Settings.
2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.
3. Touch Operator Selection or Access Point Names to check the network
Your mobile phone will automatically read the access point of the SIM card. For
this reason, do not change the parameters of the access point; otherwise, you
might not be able to access network sources.
I have 2 U8150 and 1 U8800 X5 and I've never had problems with SIM cards.
I can install 2 Degree SIM card and swap to Vodafone SIM card with out any troubles. Hope you get it sorted. Neil.
