for some crazy reason i cant get DriverMax to work... everytime i ask it to send me an activation email it says that i am using an obsolete version of the software that cannot connect to the internet and directs me to update the software. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software at least 3 times with the same result everytime. Any help would be appreciated. I am sick of 1x and i live in ft. lauderdale fl and know i can get 3g with this update.

I see, you might be missing just one more driver. from what i would do here i would connect your phone to the computer (on Manufacture mode, make sure to restart phone after that) and open up drivermax and select check online for driver updates or either Identify unknown hardware and see you are missing anything.also what os are you running and what bit you on (32 or 64)

I did it on my folks laptop and it finally worked I cant tell you how happy i am to see 3025 as my prl. The downfall is that the area where the live at (The Acerage, Palm Beach County, zip code 33470) seems not to have a 3g tower so ill have to wait until i get back to miami to test if it works.
The computer was a Windows 7 (6.1.7600)

Hello a while ago i got 3g in San Leandro CA with help from the drivermax solution (well not exactly because the driver in it was not compatible with my computer (windows xp) i had to type the drivers name and my system im using on google after a little seachering
i got it sorry i can't remember what i typed
Are speeds of 250kbps good, I know its terrible for 3g especiallly compared to att but is it good compared to what other people are getting?

Set your phone to manufacture mode plug it in, install drivermax, install unkown drivers ( should appear as COM port icon when searching for the drivers). Install the missing drivers to your computer.
Now go to device manager and instead of seeing four android adapters, it should be 3 and now you should have a COM port labeled as adb or something close to that. Take note of the COM number and go ahead and open up QPST
From their follow the steps given for QPST on the first post in this thread
P.S. - you will need an Spc number to flash the prl to your phone so go to CheckESNFree.com - The only instant, free, online ESN checker., click metropcs section, and enter the MEID number found under your battery. It will generate the Spc code needed to flash it

Alright so I looked at you screenshot and I realized that you have no COM ports on your computer at all. In the beginning, I tried all the steps on a windows xP and I would've been successful if I didn't act stupid and delete all the other COM ports which were vital for sucesss (especially COM1).
Your best bet is to borrow a friends or families computer or laptop that is a win7 64-bit and that has some COM ports already installed on it. That was the only solution I had to get 3G and that may be also your only solution.
ur_fuked if you ever figure out how to do this please let me know because i have also been following this thread since the beginning and have tried all the tips and still cant get the com ports to show up on my computer... I am using windows xp... i try to only look at this thread every once in a while because it makes me mad that i am still at 1x speeds and cant get this prl update... especially because i have seen people say they are getting 3g in my area (Ft. Lauderdale FL).... why cant metro just push the update too everyone

Try it on a windows 7 64-bit and see if it works
Metro dosent wanna push the prl to everyone because the 3G isnt official and it's just supposed to be an alternative to release some stress that is being put on the 1x system. Yes the 3G is faster than the 1x but I noticed that the data is capped to about 200kbps in south Florida which is still slow.
As a point reference, the facebook news feed via Facebook for Android loads in 8 seconds rather than 15 to 20 seconds

i noticed 3g today on my phone for a brief moment at work in downtown ft. lauderdale... i checked the prl and i guess it automatically updated to 3025... im so happy... lol but the only problem is that it is only in one spot so far... almost everywhere other than outside at work it it still 1x
OK, for everyone that is having problems getting the "DBAadapter Reserved Interface (COMxx)" listen up. This may not work for you, but this is how I got mine to work.
At first, when I would plug in my m835 (Mate35 ROM), with USB debugging enabled, and port setting to "Manufacturer Mode", all I would get would be 4 unrecognized "Android Adapters".
My roommate has an stock M860, which is basically the exact same phone with a bigger screen. I copied the drivers from his phone's fake CD-ROM that is loaded when it is USB connected to a folder on my hard drive.
I then reconnected my phone, with USB debugging and Manufacture mode, went into device manager, uninstalled those 4 "Android Adapters", and chose to delete the drivers.
I then ran the PcOptions.exe from the m860 drivers folder, which installed the drivers to my PC. When I reconnected my m835, instead of 4 unrecognized Android Adapters, I got the following:
I was then able to follow the instructions for updating my PRL. I got the 3G icon very briefly on US1, just south of Taft St. in Hollywood, FL, but not long enough to test anything. Will keep a watch on it though as I travel around Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale.

Well, it may not be too big of a deal to be able to go and find the newest tri-band (AWS) PRL previously mentioned, number 03026, but I wanted to post here so as to be convenient for all of you.
Damn. I read this entire post and its comments and I'm still as confused as ever. Is there someone who can help me step by step in simple terms? I'm currently running CM7.
