I have had this happen where they don't show up right away, but they always show up eventually, either after looking at them in the file manager or a reboot, or just waiting for awhile. Not sure what causes this, but sometimes when you go to the gallery it will say loading new files or something like that, then they will be there. This happened on my Ascend with CM7 also, maybe it's a Gingerbread thing?

Ive also noticed this happening a lot with my phone, I'll goto the gallery and the folders show up but the pictures themselves wont appear for up to 2 minutes, not sure what causes this.

I read on a review of the Mercury on PC Mag that it has limited video codecs. I don't know first hand its just what PC Mag said.

Mine hasn't had this problem. What mine does is when I go to the gallery, my stuff I already had was there, but my new pictures or videos don't show up. It doesn't do this all the time, just sometimes, and like I said, they show up eventually. This also hasn't happened with pics or vids I've taken with the camera, but stuff I've saved or downloaded.

Not sure what they mean by limited codecs, I was thinking they meant limited number of video formats it will play (which could be solved by just downloading one of the many video players on the market anyway). Either way, there's no such thing as a perfect phone, there's always something to improve on. But the videos should show up in the gallery eventually. Have you tried re booting the phone?

Perhaps a quirk or bug but I think my issue was because I had deleted some photos and videos off the phone over wifi using Airdroid on my PC, the gallery was still showing some of the photos and videos I had deleted long after exiting airdroid, but once I rebooted the phone the files weren't showing anymore and there's no longer a delay when loading the gallery.

Yes I noticed this. All I have to do in my case is hit the back button and then everything shows up. Not sure if that will work for everyone, but does mine.

I wonder if QuickPic would help fix the gallery problems some people are having.

Just wanted to verify that QuickPic is much better than the stock app, I haven't had any lag issues with it like I did with stock gallery, also when viewing higher resolution images the quality when pinch zooming is noticeably better with QuickPic (hi res images became blocky / pixelated to soon when zooming with stock app).

I've been using it too. It's not as pretty as the stock gallery, but otherwise it's much better. Videos and pictures show up right away, pics open faster, it plays GIFs, and it has more options like hiding and resizing pictures.
