Guys, please! Check this bug on your phones:
Firmware: GAOSP-2-09292010-NIGHTLY and GAOSP-2-10212010-NIGHTLY.
Settings-> CyanogenMod settings-> Sound settings-> Always play on speaker: Notifications, Ringtones, Alarms - All checkboxes are select.
Immediately after reboot all notifications, ringtones, alarms go through the speaker. But after the first player start and listening to at least one song with headset, all notifications, ringtones and alarm go ONLY through the headphones.I always have my headphones in.So now if I'm not using the device I never hear any notifications!
Test please! Who has the same problem?
Thanks in advance. And sorry for my bad english.

Revet back to previously nightly, battery consumption back to normal by my standards. Day gone and the battery is on 90%, battery set to economic mode. One happy user with the previously nightly, without regards to some improvement and edited goodies in the new nightly.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed in the battery life of the latest nightly too... I used to charge every other day, now I can barely get through one day without charging.

And that's with very little 3G activity (mostly mobile network was off)

Got back to 10212010 nightly. The battery drain was immense. Also, the phone heated up like hell while charging. Dunno what the issue was; hope Drakaz is looking into it.
Seems lotsa ppl having the same issues.

BTW where do you find economic mode for battery in the nighties.

Ups, sorry I meant to write, that was CPU sampling to eco(nomic) mod in GAOSP conf (there's also mix and perf(omance) choices). Apparently it saves the battery life tremendously (mix is my choice now), battery is now on 79% - 2 days of usage.

Ah thats nice. I always kept it at perf.

Now did two things.
  1. Changed to eco mode in cpu sampling in gaosp config
  2. SET CPU settings changed to 614 Max/19 Min
Hope I should see some battery improvements with this.

Anyways : Thanks for pointing it out. I was a fool to not get it in the 1st place

first thing i noticed about the new nightly is that the bell issue is back/still there. Drakaz released a update.zip which had this issue fixed but the new nightly still has the inability to log into account.

Can anyone determine the ideal settings for GAOSP?
cpu sampling (Lelouch - do you recommend mix or eco?), compcache (gaosp settings and cyanogen settings), oc (why choose 614 over 710) etc.

Thanks

I am using the latest nightly, 10292010, great speed improvements! I am not using the gaosp config, or cyanogenmod settings and it feels great.

Too bad the market is not working properly right now. Cant reinstall the old apps again.
Cant comment on the battery use yet since its only been a few hrs.

The apps also cannot read the SD card, although file explorer can....can someone confirm this by opening the gallery and see if it can read the SD card?

Thanks

The same problem here. Thought maybe the problem was in installation of the nightly. Also saw that coolxxxx.media.library (something like that can't remember saw it yesterday night) isn't present. Weird.

Hello and welcome, nelee.
Try with search button first, and with latest froyo everything is working, almost perfect. No problems with reading from SD, market bugs itself, video recording has some problems (gray pixels).... Using OC:614, Compcache and it goes really smooth. Batery life...will report in some days.

I find new nightly is good. Battery seems OK now. Not draining as fast as previous nightly. Songs are now appearing twice in library but that does not affect the operation of the music player. Doesn't happen if I install another music player app. Overall it seems pretty good. Thank you Drakaz.

i find new nightly very good but still having trouble with battery drain. left phone on with a full charge from 1am till 7am over night and battery was at 49 % when i looked at it. i am older so donnt use as much as most people and really like 2.2.1 and will continue to use as full time system. i am going to look for a better battery today will let you now how i make out.

The latest nightly, 10292010, format everything and re-installed with ultralight gapps. Everything works great! Even the market got fixed!

Edit: bluetooth doesnt work.

1.6 Galaxo V1.6.3.3

Try to install
Nightly Builds

with NightlyBuilds - gaosp - Project Hosting on Google Code tutorial. And then select "apply any zip from sd", enabling installing, some time later it crash and write "installing aborted". What can I do? Then trying adb shell it says error, device not found. I think that all drivers is ok.

I installed the latest nightly, 10292010 and initial setup et al worked pretty fine. The market worked for the first time and internet seemed fine yesterday night when i installed it. However, since this morning, i am not able to access the internet. It just says Network Error. No idea whats going on. I am on Vodafone India network in Hyderabad.

Sri Harsha.

Alright... I just realized that i made some changes to the APN sometime yesterday and that's why it isn't working. I've deleted the APN and reset to defaults. Reboot and it works fine now. So far so good...

Can i know how to put the battery to "Eco" mode??? I am a lot confused and don't know where do we get this option. I just charged this battery to 100% this morning and 5 hours up time and it shows 60% as battery... Any info???

Regards,
Sri Harsha.

Thanks Bomberman... Just realized it while looking at all the applications and wanted to edit my post. Still thanks for the reply. I am sure it helps others who are like me.

Everything looks heaven as of now... Will need to wait and see the Battery since i just made the change of "ECO" setting.

By the way, just wanted to know what is the CompCache? What should it be set to? Why do we have an option "OFF" for that?

Regards,
Sri Harsha.

Set it "ON" and change the value to 50000.
Also you have CompCache in CyanogenMod settings > Performance settings

Strangely, in the GAOSP settings, the CompCache box gives me a value of 25700 and i can't change it. :-o

When i access the CyanogenMod settings, it gives me options in % and is set to 18% (Default). Should i change this?

My batter is really bad now. It went from 22% to 0 in a couple of hours this morning and i charged it till about 80%. In less than 1 hour, its down to 53%. All i did in between is to caputre a couple of pics and 2 calls of 1 min duration each. Nothing else..

Please let me know if there are any other settings i should change.

Batter Use displays the following:
Display: 40% (I've reduced the brightness yesterday but still. Should i have the Automatic option checked?"
Cell Standby: 22% (???)
Voice Calls: 14%
Phone Idle :11% (Again, i don't know the difference between standby and idle)
Android System: 10%
Camera: 2%
Dialer: 2%

Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: I7500DDII3
Firmware: GAOSP-2-10292010-NIGHTLY

Thank you.
The complete list of steps are given in the link below. However, i've copied the step that applied to you.

if you get a "Force close" loop: Reboot into recovery, adb shell, and than type the following commands: "mount /dbdata -rw" , "cd /dbdata", "rm * -rf".

If you are not clear of what this means, refer to the link below:

NightlyBuilds - gaosp - Project Hosting on Google Code

Hope this helps!

About the default value, just touch in it, you should get the keyboard and choose 123 and put the value in. Also about compcache value in CyanogenMod you can stick with default value or go for 10 or 26%.

Now about battery drainage, apparently it's something with speaker being always on. Drakaz is already aware of the problem (previous and this nightly only), but it's allot more then just that (a bigger fix is needed). The nightly from 29092010 works without the battery drain problem, but it's not so fast like this version.

We gotta stick with it until the next release is out. Check this change log for the next release.

EDIT: Updated 3D drivers is very interesting. Hope that Angry birds will work even better now.

I figured out what my battery killer was. I was using the built-in E-mail app to access my work Exchange email. Now that I've killed that and switched to a 3rd party app my battery lasts at least the whole day.

the latest goasp surpassed all of my expectations. it was a lot less buggy then the one I tryed a little more then a month ago, the only problem is the hardware limitation . I had to go back to latest galaxo. goasp is great but the hardware just cant keep up with it way to lagy for me.

If people don't over-shower him with useless issues like they do a few days now.

Every time for me when disconnecting storage mode it hangs. Gotta pop the battery, but perhaps I'm not as patient as you Multiple PCs

Hey Hi,

Also found out that this seems to be a bug.
I dont have patience but just that that the idea to pop the battery out didn't come to my mind in the 1st place. Anyways : Hope the issue is fixed in the next release

The 10292010 nightly is a build 0.68, 0.69 is a future build.
