System panel. that's the best.
U can monitor ure activity non-stop, see when the phone is not sleeping, and what apps use cpu.

I'm experiencing an issue with the new nightly where if the screen turns off while in camera mode, or gallery i'm noticing. the phone will lock up and i'll need to pop the battery out and reboot to get it back. will not respond to the power or lock buttons. This happens 90+% of the time for me. has anyone else encountered this?

Aside from that, i'm loving the newest build. Finally have a working marketplace without workarounds!! Thanks to drakaz for all the hard work.

Lets try ..... nope, mine works fine, both in camera and gallery.
I also love the marketplace that works smooth without freezing the phone.
Wow just tried something, i quickly selected 6 apps from market and selected Install, they all installed by themselves, no force closes, no downloads failed etc. Awesome!
PS: Just one issue, why dont i see the other already installed apps in the Market Downloads tab?

That's a mystery I also don't see them (2/5 cases I see them). I see them when the phone syncs with the Google. But I don't care.

Clean the earphone jack, or insert and remove the earphones a few times. This might happen because the jack is dirty and the phone thinks you have the earphones inserted so it sends all the sound to that output.

CLeaning done with a tooth pick, a copper wire, compressed air to no avail, then used the put back and get out method , worked... but seriously this needs a fix, was searching through for it came across toggleheadset2, which obviously dont work with i7500... any body know anything like that ?

for applications not coming in downloads list in market I have a solution which works for me. you ppl may give it a try. I usually keep the back up apk files. when I install new android then before logging 'into my Google account I install all back ups using built-in file manager then log into market. all the applications I have installed are there in the list.

The fix is to steal a "cap" or a "cork" from a friend with nokia e63 They have the jack covered with a little cap and it owuld fit perfectly. Stupid me had a nokia e63 before the samsung, if i only knew, i wouldve sold that phone without that cap.
Guys i get the "There was a problem whle playing" error on youtube, anybody else gets this? Its really annoying. I have youtube 2.0.x.x something I use wifi, no data 3g.

Hey everyone. I'm new to all this, and i hate making amateur questions, but here comes one: Where do i get these Nightly builds? I've managed to find just an old one (i think it was from July or something like that). Couldn't find it on Drakaz's site neither.
A link anyone?
Thanx, will try not to bother again (well, at least until i'll fail flashing it )

You should read that guide, although it shows you how to change everything BUT the baseband. It's pretty simple though, check it out and you should understand. Only put the phone part in. Also the .tar file is an archive, you can open it to see what's inside.

I'm also having JB2 baseband.
Just wondering why do you wish to switch basebands? Any particular reason?
I'm just curious.

I thought in my short time on this forum, that everyone is on JC6 and that is the best and awesome baseband. You have JB2 too, Chronic on drakaz forum has it too, with no problems, so i guess i wont bother changing it. The main reason was that , when you check battery usage in the ABout PHone settings tab, and click on the standby time, you will see a indicator saying XX% off signal, i thought i`m having signal troubles. Also sometime my signal lines fluctuate. And also on some reboots i get the no coverage notification, altough i`m conected and i can make calls. And also today 3 phone calls stopped in the middle of the conversation, but that might be my cheek touching the BIG ASS RED END CALL BUTTON located exactly in the middle of the call screen , when the sensor lags.

Well there's your answer, thanks DaS.

Bad luck bro, just changed baseband. Now using JC6, time will tell if that was a wise decision (testing needed). But now I can change basebands like a pro, so no harm in learning it now.

From what I remember from the time when the J-firmwares were released, there is no difference in the baseband from JB2 to JC6. Just FYI

I upgraded from the 0929 to the latest without wiping. Regarding the screen orientation, I did find the setting in Cyanogen/User Interface. I uncheck and re-check the box and the same thing. The screen will rotate in browser, gallery, etc., just not the home screen. I wonder if its because I didn't wipe. Now that said, if that's the only anomally, I am doing well.

PS: I have had the same market issues as others, but I think it has to do with the market update, not the nightlys. I had the same problem with the 0929. One day I have only two apps show up in the download list, next day none. Now if I download something or get TiBackup to self check for updates ( and it usually finds one because it changes alot ) everything will appear in the download list again.

Here you go bro.
It works, just flashed it, phone rebooted (GAOSP) and baseband is JC6. No need to go for all that hell of flashing and stuff.

Well it's afternoon already. Did you try it again? Did you do like it sad? From where did you get the baseband and how big it was (mine is 20.210 KB big)?

LOL @ UNKNOWN baseband (maybe it's a new one from Sam*censored )

Well i restarted the device and now i have JC6, build FRG83. Its fine with me. I took the baseband from those links in the guide on drakaz forum. Tho System Panel app still shows unknown at the band section.
Lel, try AndroZip, its a nice file manager, and it also have a app manager where u can backup and uninstall every app, just like in titanium, and also a task manager.
Also try UC Browser, you might like it, i do, i made it default. Its free on their website, maybe in market also.

I seariously is that time without signal thing in battery usage, stand-by. I`ve switched to galaxo to experiment and in galaxo there is not such thing.i`ll post some screenshots on galaxo and gaosp.

Here is a disturbing thing, first screen is galaxo, 2nd is gaosp.

@Lelouch: I hijacked the microsd card from my digital camera i hope nobody intents to use it soon Gonna test swap and compcache

Well i think it cause the radio is searching continously even there is a network... I see dbm swithcing at a split second right from -105 to -81, in most of cell phone its laggy, I think Drakaz built it strong to pick up any change.. well that is very very good but it eats battery like anything ...

I`m also waiting for some more reviews, maybe even for the Beta, i`m quite satisfied with this one, and i love the gingerbread goodies as Lelouch called them. And its all tweaked as i like. I havnt charged in 48 hours and i`m on 60% at battery, so i have no rason to change now. Also i`m not saying NO if someone posts a really nice review

Well i dont know. Maybe the huge secret is that i use timeriffic and its sets the brightness to the lowest but visible value like 3, and the other thing is that my phone goes to airplane mode from 23:00 to 07:00 also with timeriffic. It saves battery and i also dont get disturbed during the night. Other settings are normal, compchace default, vm heap on 32, oc at 614, sensors and cpu on performance. Thats all !

Yep, the latest nightly build is for now 0.70, but the next build is a real killer (looking @ O/C to 796.8 MHz).
But, I'm not going to use it, quite happy with 610 MHz.

I've just downloaded the latest version of it. Where would I find a HOW-TO install on my Galaxy?

Here you go again. If you encounter problems post here and we will help.

NightlyBuilds - gaosp - Project Hosting on Google Code

To ease up the step before 1 in that guide i suggest you download the GalaxyUpdater via Market and use that to install your Recovery 6.5. If you are in a country that can buy apps from market, i suggest you buy the full app and install the whole GAOSP from there, and also support the developer.

Using the latest nightly. I decided to use this as my everyday build, so there are a few things which I'd like to sort out. They are in fact general questions about Froyo and cyanogenmod, not about this specific nightly.

First of all, did the "repeat notifications" feature vanish from the default SMS application? How lame is that? I had to start using Handcent just because of that.

Next thing: there are so many customization options in cyanogenmod config, it's hard to find what I want. I started by applying the Gingerbread Theme from Frojd, but then the notification bar was too black to my liking so I decided to lighten it up a bit. But after modifying a few things, I realized that the Handle from the drop down notification tray is a Cyanogen logo, is there a way to change that? Also that tray has no transparency, do I have to create my own theme or is there an option to add transparency?

Next, I'd like to change the color of the text notifications from the notification bar (not from the big drop-down notification tray).

Also, something weird happened to me TWICE already and it hasn't been a whole day. The phone simply seemed to shut itself off, nothing was responding and it wouldn't even boot. I had to remove the battery and then boot it. Regular occurrences on GAOSP?

And last (for now...), I'd like to be able to save my custom theme in the cyanogen options. When I do that, nothing seems to happen and when I select "Load a theme", there is only one (which I'm guessing is the Gingerbread theme I downloaded, but I can't read it because it's written in white on a white background... am I missing something?).

So that's it, thanks to whoever feels like helping me out. GAOSP is nice, but Galaxo seemed much simpler to configure. Thanks.
