by what i've read in these forums, galaxo frees up some ram from the vanilla firmware and i remember someone posting about having more free ram in jc4 than in jb2, so maybe it's trying to wipe something that isn't there?

does anyone noticed that there "maybe" a problem with 3g?
i am using the same APN setting (just a name "internet" is different which was "int" before but thats not important i guess) with cupcake version of GalaxHero and it was wonderful there was no problem.
but now i can't connect through 3g, edge/gprs works but thats all. I can see that there is 3g icon on the phone and uploading arrow works but no downloading icon.
I used Galaxo 1.6.1 with GalaxSense theme(very nice with pretty animation form os 2.0) 4 days, but i am very dissapoiting. with normal firmwares without root i was able to have in backround 3-4 apps(IM+, opera mini,NewsRoom, Touiteur) without any system close. In galaxo 1.6.1 I have problem have on two apps, when I started(or open new url) Operi mini 5 with IM+ in backround in a moment reconnected, when I switch to IM+ and back, opera mini 5 started again. Notes too much ram galaxo or theme which I use?
I don´t see any performance of galaxo(cpu sampling set to perf), but this nevermind me, I was satisfied with speed in original rom.
Galaxo have many many force close, it is possibly problem JB2.
So only advantages of galaxo for me is, I have root and i can/t update themes:\

there is a 3g problem, but tgis is in the baseband, not in system.
i went back to ik5 based italy rom, but the problem still was there. now i first installed ih8 then italy and now its gone. you could test this with ii5 and then galaxo and report if you are good, maybe i will test ii5/italy also if i find something not working like expected...
@cryingfreeman
did you do wipe when it is recommended during install?

if u mind some testing, you could just flash ii5 with odin, then flash recovery 4.6.2 and then galaxo 1.6.2 i have already one report on another forum that no sleep bug is gone except if he uses a hacked version of maps navigation. seems there are no other regressions, so its worth a try...
I'm trying to put Galaxo 1.6.2 using recovery 4.6.2, I manage to do everything except backup the G.apps as there is no option for that in the recovery menu?! I have the option to recover G.aaps but no option for backup. What I+m going to recover if I didn't backup it? I manage boot up the phone and use it without G.apps but it's worthless to have Android phone in that way.
I thought maybe nandroid backup is doing that now instead and recovery will be able to extract it somehow from there but of course I choose Restore G.apps from the menu and nothing happens: restore aborted.
Nice, I believe I did that and that means samsung.tar is corrupted somehow...
What does it say when you try to restore?

Indeed, sounds like something's wrong with the file, as Recovery cannot find the system image in it. Try re-downloading the file and starting the process all over again.

which means the below was your problem
you even said it in your post that you renamed the full tar and not the pda installed in it.
its an easy mistake to make as the person who packaged it packed it with pda in the name

aa ok,now i understand what happend.thanks for this!!!
i dunno, they're not working, i tried to apply the theme, and it says verification error.
and i experience serious file copying problem using this 1.6.2, i haven't tried the previous version though. My sdcard keep automatically unmounting, so i can't even copy a single file ... anyone has such kind of issue?

Sorry guys, after I realized my mistake with using the whole package renamed in Samsung.tar instead of PDA.tar file only I forgot to explain what was the problem... and of course many of u had the same problem. But this is normal when the instructions are written for someone who already has know how, so these important finesses are not marked as they should so there are many misunderstandings.
Anyhow, I have using Galaxo 1.6.2 and I cannot really say I'm very happy. Batterry lasts for a day without obvious reason what's draining it so fast. If I call/GPS/WiFi and 3G browse all the time It lasts the same as I just leave the phone doing nothing (without GPS, WiFi, Calls and 3G on).
With official JC4 (No Galaxo) I had two states changing without obvious trigger: Extremely fast battery draining (as no sleep bug) and extremely slow operation which was even more annoying but the battery lasted for few days.
Now back to the Galaxo 1.6.2 JC6, I just found out that Cardio trainer has big problems fixing the GPS position. And after it fixes it (if at all) it looses it very easily. I manage to fix the position with Gmaps a bit faster and a bit better but it still isn't as it was with the IK5 for example.
Could flashing with Odin and IK5 phone.tar solve the problem?

id suggest just to try it, u can use anny phone.tar with any system without problems. just try and keep the one that works best for you. flashing the phone.tar is a matter of a few seconds, you need about one minute from shutdown to restart with new baseband. and as i see it samsung is working hard to improve battery life by tweaking some hardware stuff that is located in the baseband, but is making things worse instead in many areas. if you also have problems with 3g or no sleep bug id suggest you use ih8 baseband which has slightly worse battery life but is working like intended for me.
make sure you push it with adb and not copy and paste
put it in your sdk tools directory and type
adb push SAMSUNG.tar /sdcard/
I must say I didn't find that necessary. I thought that was the thing I was doing wrong but it isn't. I was just using the whole damn JC6 update file instead of just the pda file inside the package.
Copy/paste will do just fine. If it fails (and everything else was done just right) than he should consider doing it with adp push...

BR
yeah no worries, just sometimes copy paste messes up the file, if you use adb push in the first place then it saves messing about with it again later
