Default android with triangle when booting into recovery

Hello all,
First post in the Iconia A500 section and sadly, Im a bit confused.
Im a DroidX guy and have used ClockworkMod plenty of times over the past couple years but something is different with the Iconia.

I have root (I get superuser granted notices when using root only apps) and have installed the Acer Recovery Installer. When I open that app Im not getting highlighted boxes to install another rom from my SD card but the ROM I plan to install is located on the SD card in its root directory. After shutting down the tab and restarting it by holding Power and Volume Down I get several lines of white text and then a green android with a yellow triangle inside. From there I can do nothing other than press the reset button and it boots back up normally.

What am I missing here? My intent is to move to a 3.2 ROM from the 3.1 it came with. Once ive got that figured out its game on!

Thanks for any help.

ok, I see I didnt do the renaming of the file part but now I have another problem. I dont see any distinction between the internal memory and the SD card memory when plugging the tab into my computer. Using Astro and/or Rootexplorer I can see the SD card and my newly renamed "Update.zip" file is there but when in recovery and tell it to install update.zip from the SD card or go the select zip from SD card you dont see it.

I did download the drivers from Acer and installed them the day I got the tab. Shouldnt I see the SD card when connected to the computer?

Not sure what's going on with your computer, but when I plug mine in to my computer, the tablet comes up like a CD rom. It says Acer Iconia. When I open it up, I have two drives inside, internal storage and external storage. Remember your tablet has a built in sd-card too. Don't mistake one for the other. In es-file explorer, I go to /mnt/ext_sdcard to see the external sd card. And go to /mnt/sdcard to see the internal one.

Got it all sorted out now, and thanks for taking the time to help.
Turns out there wasn't really a problem, the system setup was just too new and I was too noob. When I moved my ROM to the tablet the directory said I was putting the file in external SD storage BUT it wasn't. Once I moved the file using root explorer to another location called external SD memory (actually on the card) the SD card then showed up when I plugged into my computer. Happy days! I've gone from 3.1 to 3.2 to ICS already.

Loving this thing.

I have found the directory structure of the A500 quite confusing ever since I got it. So there is an actual SD card (which could be removed/inserted if the tablet were disassembled) residing within the inner workings of the tablet? Or is it just some flash memory that they 'named' as an SD card? If there is a real SD card inside there, that would finally make some sense of the confusing names in the folder tree.

Next question - if it is a real SD card, can it be upgraded to a higher capacity card?

I think they just named a chunk of the internal memory external SD for some unknown reason. Of all my readings ive never once seen reference to a physical SD card on the inside. That is what tripped me up resulting in this post. I couldnt see the real SD card because it wouldnt display on my laptop when I plugged in until there was something actually on that card.

Interesting to know. I've posted under other threads about the seemingly convoluted tree structure in the A500. Not only are there multiple refernces to "SD card", some of them seem to mirror the same files stored under another SD card listing elsewhere in the tree. Thor HC ROM added in a folder listing named Removeable for finding the external SD card, so that helped sort things out a bit.
