do you have a link for this aurora rom? what did you wipe? did you make a nandroid backup?
like in most forums across the net, we have what we call stickies. these are threads that we stick to the top of the forum.
in the forum you are in there is this sticky:
Ideos X5 (U8800): All Things Root Guide
in it has a root guide( here is the link: Ultimate Guide to the Huawei U8800 - Huawei U8800 / Ideos X5 - U8800.MoDaCo.com - MoDaCo
). it has explaination on how to flash a rom. you can skip the rooting process.
the only thing is that the guide does not show you how to make a nandroid backup.
if you do not know what it is:
nandroid backups area complete snapshot of your phone's current state. it saves all of your data and settings. if you ever mess up or something went wrong you can always go back to an earlier nandroid backup.
in cwm there is a backup and restore option, select that and then you can also restore thru the same option.
any ways hope that helps.
