You should update to the 2.15 radio, which is the radio that was included with the official 2.2 release.

Have you installed unrevoked forever? If not, you need to do that first. once you have it installed, you just put that file on the root of your SD and reboot into the bootloader. It will ask you if you want to update, say yes. That's it.

Make a nandroid before you do anything. I have these steps outlined on my site.

Try backing up anything you care about from your SD card to your computer, reformat the SD card FAT32 from your computer. Put ONLY the http://adrynalyne.us/files/radio/2.15.00.07.28/PB31IMG.zip file on the root of the SD card. Put it back in your phone, boot into the bootloader (volume down + power) See if it works now.

Yes, you must use forever to patch the radio to 2.15. The only other way to get it is via the OTA (the real one that your phone auto updates with), or the proper RUU (which is the OTA, just manually applied).

To do what? You don't need your phone connected to your computer to install unrevoked forever. It's just like any ROM install, done via recoery.

You won't necessarily notice any difference. For some it provided slightly better reception. I personally didn't notice anything different. That said, 2.05 was never an official radio. It was pulled before it got pushed out to anyone, so I'm of the belief that there were problems enough for them to do that, then include 2.15 with the froyo OTA.

unrevoked3 & unrevoked forever are 2 different things. unrevoked3 gives you root. unrevoked forever gives you nand unlock (which is required to install unsigned files like the radio).

The only time you need to change the mode that your USB connection is set is when you are trying to read/write the card from your computer. It should be charge only the rest of the time. If it's disk mode, your phone wont be able to access the card.

Once again, you have to install unrevoked forever to be able to install the 2.15 radio.
