Anyone else have horrible service with this setup? I thought a new radio was supposed to give better service? Im running Skyraider 3.0 Vanilla, with a 2.15 radio and a 2.6.32 kernel..
I semi noticed it on Skyraider 2.5.2, however, I didnt notice it running skyraider PRIOR to my radio upgrade. But it doesnt make any sense, doesnt the radio upgrade supposedly help signal strength?
Yea idk maybe its in my head. I just have to keep resending texts because they fail, last night i dropped my first ever call in 2+years..Idk..Might go back to stock and get real ota, because the things I rooted for dont even work correctly anyway.
Im going by my girlfriend babbling and rambling, then all of a sudden she stopped, and im like uhhh helloooo? Thinking she caught me in a non paying attention state, I go "oh yea, thats weird babe", then i hear the beep beep beep, im like oh crap she asked me a question and wasnt paying attention. Call her back and im like sorry, shes like yea you hung up on me!
Phew..
Idk, ive tried everything from changing my SID code, to reformatting and reinstalling rom, everything..Cant figure it out.
On a side note, how do you format a sd card into FAT32 from the phone??

Honestly I had a little voice quality issue when I had the stock radio once I updated to 2.05 everything was perfect . Then I installed 2.15 and while my call quality is supurb my Data service is pathetic. I pretty much have stopped doing anything but checking email and getting sports updates when not on WiFi luckly I don't really need data when I'm out away from WiFi as I'm usually doing something/someone more interesting then playing with my phone.

Interesting post Jim. Simply because it got me to thinking that my habits are pretty much the same. If I'm not on Wifi then I'm not ******* with the phone other than perhaps weather. But... (I should probably think before writing) we just did a trip to Dubuque, about 1000 miles, and kept Radio Time on all the way. Had signal the whole time except when switching towers in big cities. Was on 2.15 too.

I'm pretty aggervated, I'm thinking of just calling Asurion and filing a claim for a new phone . I haven't made a claim in over 2years and I've been paying them I think I'm due

No doubt. It will cost you $90 but it might be worth it. You'll have both phones for a few days and you can compare. I would do it in a flash if I were having major issues.

I started having issues on the 2.05, so I went to the 2.15 hoping it would take care of the speed issues I was having. I get anything from over 2MB to 56k down on 3G and its killing me I was trying to use while in san Antonio. I thought it was the kernel I was using after the radio did not help, I was running the kings#3, switch to Hydra #4 and still had issues. I am running skyraider 3.0.
I guess I will have to try another rom to see if it will cure it? I sure hate to since I really love the rom.
Signal is normally good by the bars for what they are worth.

I'll definetly give that a shot first , before calling Asurion
Yeah, that's right I saw that too. Better do some research first on that. Saw previously that 2.05 was only a patch for 1.x and not a full radio as is 2.15.
i am trying the 2.07 radio at the moment.
tried the new 2.15 last night as well.
haven't noticed any signal difference here at home. will have to try some calls to see if there is any audio quality differences. have not done any speed tests yet either.
was mainly just making sure they worked and installed correctly.

Yeah the other 2.15 didn't do anything , just flashed 2.07 gonna try it out today . I'm keeping my fingers crossed
EDIT::
Still no go on either 2.15 of 2.07... I get a wopping 138kbps download and 186kbps upload
Trying 2.05 now lol.... If that's no go Asurion will be hearing from this guy
What's really weird is if I let it sit there on 1x it will eventually show 3g then I click on anything requiring data and it instantly goes to no service . 1x is at least reliable 3g won't work at all

My signal quality and speed seems unchanged from 2.1, but being in a large metropolitan area it's always been mostly good. I get good cell service at home (dbm around 80), however I use wifi n exclusively when I'm there. The n speed is just blazing!
That said, I am rooted but haven't tried any custom roms or tinkered with any network settings.

Yep no go, tried every radio with the same results some worse.
Must be something wrong with the phone itself, cause I've tried diffrent ROMS, Kernals and now radios . I've *228 options 1 and 2 (not with the new radio because for whatever reason when I dial *228 on CM6 i dont get a dialer so I Can't select either option.. kinda strange)
Welp guess on tuesday I'll be ordering a new incredible

No I have not, can I go back to 2.1 just by flashing a 2.1 ROM ?
and what is update prl manually ?
noob questions
and yes stuck on 1x 3g will show up but it doesn't work the second you try to connect it completely loses service for a few seconds and reverts back to no data then makes its way to 1x
well i did some searching and it looks like there are no download links for verizon prls.
prl is the preferred roaming list that updates when you do the *228. with sprint you can download any prl file you want to try and find one that works best for you. you can do it with verizon as well if you can find the files.
there is a thread here for going back to 2.1. its a .zip that you run in hboot. it will load the stock recovery, radio and rom back on your phone. you will retain s-off so you can easily get root back when you want.

I don't have time now , but I'll unroot and go back to stock and see if that works.
So basically the plan here is go back to unrooted 2.1 then re root and install 2.2 ?
well if you go back to stock and you are still having problems I would say you have a hardware issue. if all is good then install clockwork recovery and go back to whatever rom you want. just pay attention when installing apps to see if the problem returns.

I wonder what happened, Jim? It just seems like it can't be hardware because you said it was working great at one point. Although it could have crapped out I guess. What is your hboot version? I did the .92 ver update some time ago.
FYI, I went back to KK #1, and set my OC back down to 998 with "conservative". Looking for a little better battery these days.

I haven't looked at it really , I got a solid 1x connection good enough to stream white sox games and slacker so I'm good . I might try to downgrade tomorrow we'll see how things progress.
Not sure what my hboot version is , Im on my phone now so I can't really look but i'll get back to ya

Voice coverage is the last thing I care about. Its my texting mainly. If i send a mass text, i have to resent it like 10x.. I am still getting 5bars while driving around, but at work and in places ive never had problems im getting problems. Its whatever, im gonna flash the 2.2 leak and see how that works too because Skyraider is ugly to me atm lol..and nothing I wanted from it works right.
