I just installed the Virtuous 2.6 ROM and tried to install King BFS Kernel 4 but it put my phone in a reboot loop. What kernel should I use with this ROM?

That's kind of strange, I've tried the Hydra Kernels and they work flawlessly, currently running Kings #4 and it's just great, no reboots whatsoever, very stable and fast, the only time I encountered issues was while browsing the web, then again the setup was to run at 1190 Mhz, now slowed down to 1152 and is pretty much perfect so far......check and recheck your procedures, the first reboot can be looooooong.....
you can use any kernel that says it's compatible with sense roms, make sure you are flashing them correctly, I believe there is no need to wipe data, or dalvik cache (at least I never have, and have flashed basically ever kernel and have never had an issue). I'm currently using King Klicks BFS#4 kernel without a single glitch and GREAT battery life.
What it says in my signature below works great for me
no force close not even once and runs smooth, stable and fast for me
great rom/kernal combo on my device with great battery life
sat worked 8 hrs made couple calls, bunch of texts, checking time alot and even youtube for few and at end of shift i was at 78percent
The Virtuous custom kernal was stable for me for a while, but I like overclocking, so I went to BFS 4. It's been absolutely flawless for me, and battery life is improved with a 'Screen off' profile set to powersave at around 380.
I used 2 bfs kernels the stock htc and adrynalynes custom kernel. Overall the custom kernel won me over with superior battery life with setcpu and great performance. I don't OC my phone
I'm actually trying out the custom kernel on uncommon sense ROM.

I'm using King's BFS #4. Did a Dalvik cache (under advanced) wipe before flashing as was recommended, and it works great for me with Virtuous 2.7. The only reason I flashed the custom kernel was that Angry Birds beta doesn't work with the stock kernel (look at the comments in the Market for a ton of 1-star reviews from folks who can't use it on their stock Incredibles and Evos), and my kids love that game.
Angry Birds is awesome! It did work on stock Virtuous kernal for me. I had to keep tapping the the screen while it was loading to get it to load up though. Im on Adrenalynes kernal now and I sometimes have to tap the screen still. My battery life is greatly improved though I am underclocking and using a screen off profile. I am using overclock widget instead of set cpu. I like that app so far. Anyone else use it over set cpu?
Virtuous 2.7 + King's BFS#4. So far no problems with it. I'm getting slightly better battery life than with the Virtous custom kernal, but nothing substantial.
I wouldn't say MUCH easier, because the problem with ROM manager, as far as I can tell, is you can only install 1 thing at a time. So when I only have to install 1 thing, it's definitely more efficient because you just select the file from SD, and it automatically boots in to Clockwork, does the install, and reboots the system in 1 shot.
When having to install multiple things, I just usually go in to Clockwork manually and install them at once, and reboot at once. Then I don't have to continually install, wait for reboot, install, wait for reboot, etc.

Very true. That would be a neat feature for the dev to include in Rom Manager. Maybe we should suggest it. Another thing would be an option to have it automatically clear only the dalvik cache immediately before installing things sometimes. Then again, it is really not that big a deal to do all this manually from clockwork.
I'm running Virtuous 2.7 and I'm having an issue with the Adrynalyne custom kernal V2. I have the setcpu widget and it now has the cpu downclocked to 528mhz and I can't bump it up at all. I don't have any profiles or anything set up. When I reboot it goes back up to the default mhz. Anyone have any idea of whats going on? After some time the cpu downclocks.

Press Menu > Device selection > detect device or auto detect (something like that) and it will automatically detect the new kernal. Right now it just has you on a base setup .
If I buy rom manager and download BFS #4 can I use that on stock rooted 2.2?
i've been running bfs #4 on stock rooted 2.2 for about a week now. loaded the kernel through clockwork. it's working good for the most part and i've been keeping it mostly at stock speeds. however, i have noticed an occasional lag here and there (that i didn't noticed with the stock kernel) but no reboots or lock ups. i'm going to disable setcpu to see if that has any impact.
but yeah, rom manager isn't required since you can just use clockwork to load new roms or kernels.
From what I've seen, both kernels are similar in performance and features, but different phones seem to play nice with one over the other due to subtle hardware differences.

When I tried Lou #4 I had speed and crashing issues... But, that might have been my fault.
I am running Virtuous with custom kernel..... if I want to try another kernel.... do I need to uninstall the custom one? Sorry, I am new to root!
Reboot to Recover, make a Nandroid backup of what you have now (so if something goes wrong, you can restore it to how it was prior to flashing), wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache (do not do a factory reset or wipe other data), and then install the kernel from the SD card. It will remove the previous kernel and flash the new one. The first reboot may take several minutes, so be patient.
