[ROM]1.2.11 changelog as per miui.com Removed App2sd and Dalvik2cache until better stability
Updated Twitter, CarHome and Keyboard
[ROM]1.2.4 Mostly Just Fixes for some issues in Phone, SMS, Desktop, Theme and Music apps.
Added Automatic App2sd and Dalvik2cache.
(if you use app2sd, dalvik2cache wont be enabled and vice versa. To setup app2sd just create an
ext partition on your sd card using rom manager or thru recovery and restart, the rom will do the rest. dalvik2cache is automatic if you're not using app2sd.)
Known Bug: Settings doesn't read a2sd partition so it will say device doesn't support a2sd+ thats just aesthetically and does not interfere in its functionality.
Maps and Navigation now work without workarounds, no more hanging.
Sound Recorder is fixed and functioning.

And for you Brave Souls out there who like me live without fear and always make backups!!! can work with Ziggys betas which I have seen some amazing results... but you be the judge.
[Kernel] [AOSP] Beta Kernel INC BFS HAVS 21 Jan 11 (72) (You can also follow future beta's | please post results!!)
1: I've somehow removed my gmail application shortcut from the home-screen. I can't seem to find it, nor uninstall/re-install it. How do I get it back?
2: Is it possible to auto-organize the apps? I'd really like to have them alphabetical, but would rather not do it manually with 140+ apps.

1: What you removed isn't a shortcut. It's the actual app. So, you will have to download it again from the market or restore it with TB, if you have a backup.
2: You can put them into folders and there is an option within the folder to auto-organize them. There isn't an option for doing that on the homescreens though.

1: That's what I thought. However, when I went to the Market, I couldn't Uninstall it or re-install it. Then, I tried to use TB, but I couldn't find it (a large portion of my apps listed have no names for some reason - this always happens when I go to a new Rom). That's why I posted here. In the end, I eventually re-booted my phone and voila, it's back. Brilliant me.
2: THANKS!!! That was perfect. I just spend a couple minutes and dumped every app shortcut into a folder (all but 5-10 that I like on my home screens for easy access) and sorted by app. Then, I just put that folder in the Tray at the bottom (middle of 5) and it's like having ADW back to a small degree.
With #2, I'm officially loving this Rom, and I find it to be VERY stable.

I am really liking the interface, but unlike others here, battery life for me has been lousy. I was getting great battery life with the Virtuous ROM. I will see whether some tweaks to this make any difference, but if it doesn't I am afraid I will have to bag it.

Try a couple different kernels... I'm having good results with invisiblek's #28
The Following User Says Thank You to sdrawkcab25 For This Useful Post:
Did you install using an .apk or the swype installer?
Swype Installer initially. But now I just use Titanium to restore. Haven't had to directly install willert using MIUI. Don't want to try now that you're having issues, lol.
you have to reboot after installing it. And sometimes you have to select another keyboard, type something, then switch back to swype. And then maybe reboot, I did have a little trouble getting it to work on mine but after doing those things it eventually worked and haven't had a problem since.
Edit: I also redownloaded the installer from the site to reauthorize the app.

Anyone have any trouble getting WiFi Hotspot or WiFi Tether to operate? I'm not having any luck. My laptop and NookColor will connect, but they can't get Internet Access.
I recently switched to MIUI 1.3.5 w/stock kernel. At first everything was working wonderfully. I installed using ROM manager and cleared cache/data.
I did not restore apps from a backup; simply went to the market and started downloading a few things. My phone had gotten cluttered up with too many things I never actually used.
Now, whenever I install a new app it force closes upon launch. I first attempted to just reboot but that didn't fix the FCs. Then I repaired permissions using ROM manager and rebooted. Works!
Only trouble is that I must repair permissions and reboot after installing each app or else it just force closes repeatedly.
So far I've had this experience with every app I've installed so far:
Dolphin HD
Lookout
Beautiful Widgets
Last.fm
Pandora
SiMi Clock
Titanium Backup
1Password
Evernote
SoundHound
K9 email
I really like MIUI and can't find reports from other users having similar experiences. Any suggestions what is going on or how to fix it?
Here's the beginning & end of the force close report from K9 email. I can post the entire thing if it'd be helpful but it's pretty long.

Most likely your first mistake was using rom manager to install the rom.(rom manager is really only good for browsing and downloading roms) There is a post on the miui forums on how to properly install miui. It involves using another .zip file to properly wipe your phone.
Does anyone know the process of how to go from 1.2.25 to 1.3.5? I read that you have to wipe everything first, then flash 1.3.4 first. I would assume that you don't do wipe everything again just to get 1.3.5. Please help.

You were exactly right. The other zip file that properly wipes the phone is called Caulkin's Format All. It wipes /system and /boot. According to another thread on miui the current version of Caulkin's doesn't work on ClockworkMod 3.x.
In that thread marhay says,
Quote:
No, its being worked on but in the meantime you can either:
a. flash to CWR 2.5.1.2 and run Caulkin's Format All
b. do Wipe Data and Cache, the go to advanced (or mounts, I can't remember) and wipe /system and /boot
I booted to Recovery and wiped /data, /cache, /system, and /boot. Then re-flashed miui 1.3.4 then 1.3.5 fixes and everything is working great now.
