Default Bypassing Activation Without Andorid Icon Screen

So I've searched around the forums and I can't seem to find a solution to my problem. My Droid Incredible kept crashing so I did a hard reset. I am in a different country with no access to cell service. Verizon said I would be able to bypass activation by tapping the four corners of the screen on the "Touch the Droid Icon to Continue" screen. The forums echoed this, so I was confident it would work. However, my device does not show this screen. It simply goes straight to "Choose a Language" then right to activation.

I tried the approach of attempting activation several times and ending the call, but this has not worked.

I also tried these steps:

1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change MDN Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".

However, I am unable to edit the MDN so this has not worked.

Since I am not in the U.S. my phone is now completely unusable. Does anyone have some idea of how to get past this problem?

Thanks!

Some people have reported that the call needs to fail a bunch of times or keep attempting to dial but hit end before it connects.

Yes, I've tried that and sadly it does not seem to work. I've both ended the call manually after a few seconds as well let it automatically disconnect itself when it stops attempting to connect. I've done each of these quite a few times in a row with no result.

Default Unable to Edit Mobile Directory number

Same problem here. I happen to be in Qatar with the military with the same issue after a factory reset. sucks...

I can not directly edit the Mobile Directory number. It stays at 0000009536. I edit all of the other field (MIN1, MIN2, MSID, MCC, True MIN1, and True IMSI_S) to zero, but MDN stays with that value. After a reboot the True MIN1 and True IMSI_S have reverted back to 0009536.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Default Found a Solution

Hey, just wanted to let you know I did actually find a solution to this. I used a program called CDMA Workshop. You can get it online with a torrent or something. Then just follow the instructions I copied below. It worked well for me, I hope it works well for you too. Essentially this is the same solution as dialing ##778 and editing the NAM settings, but you are just using CDMA workshop to change the numbers that your Incredible will not let you edit. If you can't read these badly written instructions let me know; I will interpret them for you

Thank you for your service.

Instructions (copied):

for this feat you will need:
>a data cable:
look in the box ur phone came in or something... or borrow one.
>the HTCDIAG drivers:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
>a working computer:
i dunno just get one, everyone has one nowadays...
>CDMA workshop FULL:
either cracked and stuff should do, google it and find a torrent or something.

now follow these simple steps:

-during activation go to emergency to pull the dialer and dial ##3424## and SEND to set the phone to HTCDIAG mode.

-once in diag mode, plug the phone in and set up the downloaded drivers.

-check under device manager and com ports to see which com port ur phone is using.

-run CDMA workshop.

-set up for the COM port ur phone is using and unlock with SPC 000000.

-after that i believe the field partaining to watever ur phone number is currently should be 0000005389, change it to any phone number, even ur google number will do even in NAM2.

-set the MCC to another international code like... 452? i mean i used 452 so watever.

-now set CDMA workshop to write.

-reboot phone and that should bypass the activation, it did it for me.

also notes, antiviruses will register most cracked versions of CDMA workshop as malware... its not, most people CANT disable their antiviruses like AVG, so you can also opt for torrents like CDMA tools that contain QPST, now QPST works just as good too, you just gotta run the configuration to select the COM port your phone is set to and run the programming to set ur NAM and MCC.
QPST is not a walk in the park but if u pay close attention it works a lot like CDMA workshop, its got an SPC button with the 000000 code preset and all, gotta make sure u read from phone before u do anything else. once u get that all setup reboot the phone and it should bypass that *228 screen.
also for you since ure overseas and all that crazy stuff, try to call verizon back for an unlock code, go to menu settings>security>disable sim card security will ask you for the unlock code which verizon will provide, and now just run with it see how it works for ya. it should work.
also if u wanna set it to GSM mode go to settings>call and its gotta have an option for switching to GSM mode, make sure u switch to GSM dual or watever. should get the job done.

everyone else in america trying to get this down, it worked for me with simple mobile, no 3G available for this phone because of the band it operates on, AT&T should work with the 3G. good luck everyone, PM me with questions.

ALSO I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR PHONE BRICKING, do this at ur own risk.

Exclamation CDA Workshop didn't work 4 me

I attempted to do all of this with no results. Never did find a "com" port with the phone. I found the phone in the device list, but no com port and nothing I did would give me a com port. But I did get the CDMA part on the computer okay.

My touch screen on the HTC droid incredible wasn't registering my touch correctly. This has happened in the past and HTC used to have a calibration app on the phone so it could be recalibrated by the user whenever necessary. Some idiot decided to remove that feature and now they want you to mail in the phone and let them do it. No way! So I bought a new Motorola and transferred service. Then did a factory reset hoping that might correct the screen registration. But then I was hung up on that dumb "activate" loop. I got around that by holding down the "down volume" key while powering up the device. Then selected restore and everything came back except it can't be used to make phone calls. The screen registration problem came back too....if it ever went away.
