Default censoring swear words

how do you stop it from adding *** to curse words when you enter text by speaking?

I've noticed this happening also. Is there any settings to disable this?

you cant, i believe i read an article almost a year ago that when saying curse words --they updated it so they dont get sued or what not in case someone says DUCK it doesnt say **** thus they censor it no matter if its intentional or not

This might apply (also might try adding the words to your custom dictionary in language settings) YouTube - How To Prank Someone's iPhone

As far as I can tell this affects all andoid phones with voice to text.

There isn't an option to disable it, only ways of circumventing the filter.

no, the translation goes through google's servers so uncensoring would have to go through google. theres no way to fix it because google themselves has to enter all your curse words.

Try a dictionary app. A broader vocabulary will reduce the need for swear words.

While I agree that swearing in general is overdone and often vulgar, I do think this link has some sort of point.

WARNING: NSFW. It is a youtube video. Shame on you for wasting your employer's time on youtube and AF.

I know, that is barely relevant. But I thought I would post anyway.

Well that stinks. Now I'm thinking it would be nice to have an app creatively add swear words. Sometimes I just don't feel like coming up with a stream of words on my own, but feel the message deserves them.

Gris has got it - I was just about to post the same thing.

If you follow his breadcrumbs, you can turn off "Block offensive words" and turn down SafeSearch.

Here's a novel idea, how about just not using any swear words?

Just a thought....

for the few minutes that i had cm7 on my phone i was poking around the settings and there was an option in the voice input section that allowed you to control the filtering (strict moderate or none). I think it is a 2.3 thing and not a CM thing because it was not in the CM settings section. so you may not have to worry about this for much longer...

try settings -> Voice input & output settings -> Voice recognition settings

Uncheck " Block offensive words"

That should do it.

You have to go to one place to turn it off for written messages and another place to turn it off for voice texts.
