Default SD card not recognized???

So a few days ago my Dinc decided to stop recognizing my SD card. First I restarted the phone with a soft reboot which didnt work, then I did a hard reboot which reset all my settings but still didnt fix the issue. I removed and re-installed the SD card in the slot which also did nothing. The phone refuses to recognize the card is mounted. Any ideas...

Yea, a few folks have been having problems with their SD cards not being located. I took mine out and put it back in, that worked for me. I hope you can get it worked out. Look for another thread talking about it here, perhaps someone had a solution.

I had a similar issue a few days ago and I think it was due to my task killer. I had all my apps on the ignore list that I wanted to always stay running in the background. I inadvertently had set task killer to kill a process called com.HTC.rosieutility. Though I may be wrong, when I added that to the ignore list, I.e.- always running in background, my SD card began working again. It may have been a coincidence, but it seemed to fix the unrecognized SD card issue for me.

I guess another possibility would be your card died. I'd take the card out of the phone and put it in the SD adapter then put it in your card reader in your computer to see if the computer recognizes the card. If it does recognize it, then at least you know the card still works and the issue has to do with the phone hardware/software.

I constantly get this message. However, I 've only had to reseat the SD card once. Every other time a reboot seems to take care of it.

I'm starting to wonder though. Is my SD card going bad or is this something that HTC should be releasing a fix for?

So my card is fine. I tested it in my card reader directly into my laptop. I also connected my Dinc to my laptop via USB and was able to see the card just fine and browse the contents. I then rebooted my Dinc and upon startup in the notification tray I still got the error message "Removed memory card?" wtf... Getting real tired of this. Having the SD card mounted is pretty important to me. I've tried everything I could think of to fix this issue. Help me out...

Before you get too up in arms about it, id try another micro SD in the dinc and see if it recognizes it. If not, id backup all my info and reset the phone to factory settings and try the cards again. If they still don't work id take the dinc to Verizon and see about getting a new phone due to the card reader potentially being defective.

What is the best way to transfer everything to another card? I've got a 2gb now and my 16gb came today. Do i just unmount and copy and paste or something else?

Nothing to do with my question but i'll answer yours anyway....

Copy everything from your current card into a folder on your computer and just paste it onto the new card. Very easy thing to do.

Card reader isnt defective. If I link the phone to my laptop via USB I can see the card and all its contents. If the reader in the phone didnt work that wouldnt be the case.... Its a software issue I cant figure out.

A tip on SD problems like this, make sure you are unmounting the card correctly on your computer, and wait a few seconds after the computer says the card is unmounted. I've had a couple of workmates destroy some usb sticks by not correctly unmounting them from the computer.

I've never had an SD card go bad...but my HTC-Inc just notified me last night that my "SD Card Is Corrupted". I've tried to check it out on the desktop computer, but have found about 20% of my pictures left on the card...the rest are gone. Any others having the phone kill your card?

I had a brand new microSDHC card that read as being corrupt when I put it in. After googling around a bit formatted it in the phone and now it works fine. I know your situation is a little different, but what about transferring the data to your computer, formatting the card in the phone, and transferring the data back?

Yeah, with some fiddling around, I was able to grab and save my most recent photos and put them on a new SD card. I'll just hang on to the other card...but if anything happens with the new one...I'll be suspicious...
Thanks!

This is exactly what I was going to try next except the phone wont format a card it doesnt think is in the phone to start with... Going to maybe format it via my laptop after backing up the data...

For me the phone thought the card was damaged/corrupt, but it was still able to format it. If you do format it via your laptop I would probably subsequently reformat it with your phone.

Smile SD Card not recognized

I finally fixed my SD Card problem!!! Yeah!
I had the symptom of an SD Card that was previously working fine, but then suddenly not recognized by Vista. Windows would say "Please insert a disk into Drive L:"
The card worked fine on my phone and it would also read fine in a reader on my PC, but would no longer be recognized when the SD Card was mounted in my phone and plugged into a USB Cable and mounted.

On the phone (Samsung Fascinate SCH-i500 for me), I went to
>Settings >USB Settings> and selected "Ask on connection."

Then, I connected the USB cable again, and this time the phone asked me to use as "Media" or as "Mass Storage". I chose "Mass Storage" and then suddenly, boom, Windows recognized the drive like it always had with a drive letter assigned and I could browse the contents of the SD Card.

I then "Unmounted" the SD Card, and then went back into
>Settings>USB Settings> and selected "Mass Storage" and tried the PC again. Again, it was successful. I could read the files and I was back to normal.

FYI - reformatting the card did not fix this problem for me. And, I also tried to fix it on the Computer side by going to Computer, Manage, and change the drive letter assignment. That also did nothing for my problem.

Yeah, I'm happy!
