I'm not sure if anyone has already figured this out but I just did it by accident a few minutes ago.

If your facebook contact has changed their picture and you want to update it on your phone, go to
People > Online Directory > Facebook > Click refresh.

It updates everyones pictures so it may take a while if you have alot of contacts.

This updated the Facebook picture in the online Facebook directory but did not carry over into my "People" area. Did you have to do anything else to get your contact/people pictures to update?

Press the menu button then you will see "refresh"

I hit menu a ton of times..... I think there was a problem. So I sign out, resigned in, and now when I hit menu, the refresh is there.

i have my favorites linked to facebook and almost all of them have changed their profile pic on fb, however it wasn't updated on my phone

Same issue...FB contact pics on favorites widget not updating all of the pictures...Werid..When I click on the favorites FB pictures that do update when you go to their pictures their albums show up but for the ones that aren't updating it wont display their albums for some reason...Other than that I can't see any difference between the ones that update and dont...

Yeah I have a contact in the people favorites widget that won't update. Any help would be appreciated. I already refreshed the facebook contacts as outlined above.

The ONLY way to get this to work is to remove your Facebook for HTC Sense account completely and then add it again (and then you may have to re-link some contacts) .... its a pain and a ******ed way to do things but evidently the people behind the software on this phone were not smart enough to design this aspect of the software correctly...

Although I know there is an app on the marketplace that supposedly will update all your photos for you as well...

I have the same problem with FB and favorites. I've erased FB for HTC Sense and re-synced, but the photos still don't show. When I try to link manually, the FB Friend cannot be found in search, even though I have verified that they are, indeed, my friend in the FB app.

I like this phone less and less every day.

You don't need to install anything. Go into the People app, press the phone's menu button and select View. There you can uncheck Facebook.

It doesn't do any linking for you, it just updates your friends' FB photos as they are changed. You have to link them yourself, but once they are linked, it will sync the pictures on a schedule you set. Yes, it'll take a little work in the beginning, but once its set up you never have to manually go in to update them nor do any uninstalling or reinstalling of FB apps, etc.

Go to edit your contact card, press and hold your picture. A menu will pop up asking to set the picture. My options came up as facebook, camera, photos, remove picture. Select facebook, it will update to your current profile pic. Maybe if you set up flickr or twitter (through htc peep) it will ask to select one of those (i have only set up Facebook).

Mine came up a little pixelated as Sense/Incredible has done for others when assigning contact pictures.

EDIT: I tried setting up my twitter through Peep. An option did not come up asking to use my twitter picture as my contact card picture.

The problem is, even though I updated all facebook pictures as detailed above, certain contacts aren't shown as updated when i got to their contact card. Even if i press and hold and click facebook, I get an older picture, not a new one.

I see. I've seen this happen too. This is probably an HTC bug.

The friendstream app and Sense syncing is not too reliable IMO.

i ran into the same problem stockmoose. has anyone found a fix for this yet? I tried everything and for the life of me I can not find certain people. They are not linked to anything but when you go to link them they are GONE in facebook.

I was wondering about this for the longest time. I ended up deleting my facebook account and re-adding it just to sync the pics. This saves a lot of time ;P

This shouldn't be the case. I have had a HTC Hero and it didn't do it. My g/f has an HTC wildfire and it updates them on its own pretty much instantly. I have a desire and I to have the same issue. Surely we shouldn't have to "force" update the profile pics?

Edit: Think I might have found out something. On the wildfire all contacts are saved to the phone. On my phone I only use the google contacts. Will check back to confirm if this works.

I have a similar problem. One of my buddies will never sync from my facebook no matter what I've tried. Coincidentally he was one of the first facebook users since he was classmates with Zuckerberg

Same problem. Updating the online directory does not update the People and Phone ID images. The only solution was to delete and then re-add my Facebook for HTC Sense sync connection. Am I missing something? Is there a better fix?

I have re added my facebook account to my accounts and sync several times...zero friends show up in my online directories and NO contact pictures are updating...I will try a few more times...trying now with wifi on...

I think I know why some Facebook profiles do not show up as a link with a picture. Many people have followed tutorials on how to lock down their Facebook privacy settings. You may want to ask your good friends to allow apps to see pictures and status updates.

1. on Facebook.com go to Account -> Privacy Settings
2. click the link "Edit your settings" at the bottom under "Applications and Websites"
3. click the button "Edit Settings" for "Info accessible through your friends"
4. check mark Bio, My status updates, and My photos
5. Save Changes

i figured it out. you have to update their pics, then through the favorites, select their name, edit profile, then save it. exit out and the pic will be updated. don't know of an automatic way to do this for all your favs at once

THANKS a MILLION! I had tried everything. I went to the Verizon store tonight and he told me about Phandroid. Finally found this thread, downloaded this app and instantly, most of my contacts were linked. YAY!

I tried both removing Facebook and adding it again AND SyncMyPix. They both worked on my Droid Pro. The only thing about removing FB and adding it again is that you have to re link pple (doesn't take too long) and you need to wait a bit for the contacts to load.. otherwise you'd think that not all your friends are showing up. I prefer SynMyPix though, it is much quicker and painless.
