Default 2.1 gallery apk for incredible

Greetings and salutations. Does anyone have a link to the official 2.1 3d gallery apk? I've already downloaded the news and weather widget apk and the amazon mp3 widget, but I can't seem to find the gallery. These are all things I miss from my droid, and will be pumped to add to my incredible. Thanks everyone.

I found the link somewhere else on the forum. Its the same one as on the Nexus One. The instructions say Desire, but the N1, Desire, and Inc are all basically the same hardware wise.

Update: Thanks to Sodequis for an updated link!
2.1 Multi-Touch Gallery3d.apk - xda-developers

I just got the apk. It works great. Its beautiful, doesn't lag, and it automatically found all my pics and videos. The only problem I found is pressing the camera button in the top right corner forces the gallery to restart.

I also found that when I take a new picture it doesn't go to the 3d gallery just the stock one. Is there a fix to this?

I am a windows mobile guy and I just moved to android, but I believe it is possible. I think that to do it a cooker would need to bake and edit the apk into a new ROM. This wont be possible until root comes out though.

^Some of these are windows mobile terms and I am not sure if they cross-apply to android, but I believe they do. Also, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Too bad it wont show anything outside of 100media. Is someone editing the code to look for media, or other folders?

I think it scans all folders on memory cards, but doesn't look at the onboard memory because the Nexus One didn't have onboard memory.

Looks like I found a further updated version of the APK. Looks like it was originally created for the Desire but it works great.

This one is version "30686" vs. Howie's "30683"

Camera works fine and everything else seems to be fine. Same Icon as the Nexus One as well on this one.

Just installed that one. I find that if I open the camera from the Gallery program, I am limited to 640x480. Opening the camera on its own, I get the full 8MP.

Interesting, I am seeing this as well. Anybody find a version of the APK that doesn't present this limitation?

How do I move pictures previously stored on my phone storage to the SD card? What directory are the pictures actually stored in?

You should be able to do so with ASTRO or a similar file manager. Likewise if you plug in USB and use ur phone as a disk drive. They should be under a folder called "DCIM"

On another note:
Im also noticing that the gallery does not "clear up" images as you zoom in. With HTC Photos, once you zoom in, it redraws the image at the higher resolution. The Gallery does not.

I just tried it again and it worked. Mediafire might add a .zip extension to it. So you will have to remove that in order for android to read it is an APK file.

Here is download barcode for desire 30686 version:

I'm also having the camera at lower res and zooming issue. I can live without the camera from app but the zooming issue I can not live with. Neat app if fully functional, probably will not use in current state.

My version (with working camera and resolution limitation) seems to clean up when I select a picture. I'm pretty sure these pics aren't actually "synced" to your phone, but are being downloaded on the fly from picasa. So maybe your connection is slow.

Thanks for the upload!

I just installed "Gallery" and it seems to work well. I am having the problem mentioned where it sees the photos on my SD card, but not the ones in the phone memory. Even the ones I take using the camera through the Gallery program don't show up in the Gallery after.

It was mentioned to use Astro to move the pictures to the SD card, but what directory are they in on the phone memory. I can't seem to find them. But they show up in the generic "Photos" program.

Thanks for any help!

Can you look in Settings - Applications - Gallery
and tell us what version you are using?

I am using only pictures on my SD card, so it has nothing to do with my connection or picasa, the pictures still do not clear up.

Mine cleans up when I select a photo but does not when I zoom. Please clarify if it cleans up when you zoom.

Thanks! I did find it just after I posted, but thank you!

It's kind of a bummer, I need to leave the camera set to save to phone memory to avoid freezes. So if I want to use this good Gallery program, I have to constantly move the pictures.

Is there a version that will access phone memory?

unlikely because this is a native Nexus One application, and the Nexus One does not have onboard memory.

I have my camera set to auto save to SD card without any freezes. This shouldn't be an issue, do you know what causes it for you?

Its the stock pictures application for the Nexus One. equivalent to our "Photos" application. However this one is a lot cooler than the photos app.

Has a bunch of 3d effects etc...

Search youtube for "nexus one gallery"

I have tried several of the "fixes" mentioned in the forums, and a combination of having it save to phone memory and starting the camera app while the phone is held vertically, and then, once it's running I can use it vertically or horizontally. seems to stop the freezes.

It doesn't freeze often enough to make me get a replacement. I don't use the camera that often and don't want to sacrifice the hours it's taken me to get the phone set up the way I want it. I am hoping a future software update will solve the issue.

So right now, it's just annoying

I'm using 30682. After I select a pic and it cleans up. I zoom it and it looks blurry (very) for a second and then cleans up. These pics are from picasa and I believe they are capped at 10651600. I wouldn't mind uploading full res pics, but I would need 2-3GB of space... of course I have 8gb for gmail I don't need.... stupid.

Interesting. Can you confirm that pictures on your SD card (non-picasa) photos clear up AFTER ZOOM? (My photos clear up after I select them, but after a zoom they stay blurry and do not clear up)

Thanks

use most file managers from the Market. If you have dropbox installed it will do it as well (that's how I send them to my Incredible and install).

Ohh, this is much better than the stock gallery that's included with the Incredible! It does seem to hesitate 1/2 a second though~ It's alright though!

Could you please confirm that the zoom is working for you? I have tried all versions (including 30682) and none of them zoom properly on the Incredible. You can zoom...it just remains kind of fuzzy. Look at a picture taken at full res with Incredible (8mp). With the same picture double tap while in gallery app and then double tap while in stock photos app. The difference should be obvious.

Thanks!

I just found an issue with the camera working. After you take a photo the camera does not shut off.
