Another work around could be to install xposed framework and enable the playstore fix to allow all apps?
Had no idea that fix existed, thank you!

I've had trouble getting Xposed to play nicely with cm12 but then I've had trouble with cm12 on it's own so maybe I'm doing something wrong! If I ever get Xposed to work this module(?) will be super useful.

Yeah, there are so many modules, it seems like only 10 percent or so are applicable to our ROM when on Lollipop. I like using the Youtube ad blocker, the status bar icon changer (android theme engine) and I use it to stop my phone from turning on the screen when I plug in or unplug the power source. There might be settings for that somewhere in the ROM itself though, haven't dug too deep yet.

Thank you, but fyi as jothe 1 mentioned there is an alpha version of xposed for 5.1 here. Testing it now, I'm not sure if it works yet.
It is but I keep getting bootloop when I install the xposed installer apk.it let's me flash the zip but that's it so it probably not working yet.

*edit I installed the apk first then booted to recovery and flashed the zip no boot loop we'll see if it works

I've encountered an issue with the newer version. When managing Wi-Fi, it causes it to lockup completely, requiring a reboot to fix. As I recall, I had this issue with the old version too. I thought it was a conflict between it and the connection manager, but I don't have connection manager installed now. The real problem here, however, is it won't let me disable Wi-Fi management. I've reverted back to the older version because it didn't exhibit this issue. Maybe it will get fixed in an update.
