Default Newbie looking to "reinstall" a fresh Android.

I'm brand new when it comes to rooting, ROMs and such, so please bear with me and all my questions.

I have an unlocked AT&T Inspire, and I've been using it with GoPhone for a year. Now I've moved to Norway, and all the AT&T restrictions and apps are becoming a huge annoyance.

I wish to remove the AT&T-version of Android, and install a fresh, clean, simple version of Android. Preferrably completely up-to-date, and with HTC Sense etc. I'm basically looking to run it as if it was bought straight from HTC, no restrictions, and nothing from any network provider.

It would have to still be unlocked, but I'm guessing that's standard when you're rooting and installing new ROMs? I'd also like to keep settings, apps and especially contacts, if possible, but I'll just reinstall and reconfigure if I have to.

I've been searching and reading these forums without finding my exact "problem" (and not really understanding most of it), so I decided it was best to create this and hopefully receive a step-by-step guide or at least some help!

PS: Is it possible to change the wavelength of the antenna to fit European 3G wavelengths?

Not sure about unlocking, wavelengths and whatever, I've only messed around with ROM's so far.

But I'll point out a few

I've never used these, mind, but give them a try. Read up on the comments, etc.
{ROM} STOCK AT&T US 2.47.502.7 {Rooted}{deoxed}{most bloat removed} - xda-developers
[ROM][3-15-2011]TPC Inspire 4g Stock ROM Optimized v2|OC|HSUPA|No Bloat - xda-developers

However, ROM's can go a lot farther and I recommend you to try sense 3.0 or 3.5 if you're a sense fan.

Here's a general jumble/big list of ROMs
Inspire 4G Android Development - xda-developers

If you're new to ROM's and all, to install most ROMs/general rules
1) Backup! Use titanium to back up apps+data, then boot into clockwork recovery and run a nandroid backup (search google for how to do them). Have 2 gb of empty storage on your phone while doing this. I would also recommend copying and pasting the contents of your SD to your computer, so you have another backup. Can't be too safe right?

2) download whatever ROM you want, put on SDcard somewhere you can find it

3) go back to CWM, run full wipe, and wipe dalvik cache. Pretty much anything except SDcard. Failure to do so leads to issues with roms

4) hit install from zip, and choose the .zip'ed rom. Let it run and do it's thing

Every ROM will be a little different, so read the entire explanation on the post.
