When you press and hold home, I noticed there is no Task Manager, where is that located at. I can't seem to find it as with normal 2.2 android phones.

Easiest way is just click and drag. Just make sure the drivers are installed first.

I use iSyncr because of iTunes.

Default Lock screen

Does anyone know how to get rid of the slide down lock and just have the pattern lock?

My Inspire is charging, so some steps may not be perfectly described:

From the home, press the Menu button
Then choose Settings
From there, go to Applications (You need to scroll down some)
Then, you can manage running apps. If you don't like it this way, you can install a 3rd party application manager (Ex. Advanced Task Manager).

Did you get your driver problem figured out? PC or Mac?

On Windows 7, I just plugged in the phone, selected "Disk drive - Mount as disk drive" and clicked Done (you may or may not have to pull down the notification blind for this). The drivers automatically installed on my pc. Wait a few minutes and it appears as a drive in My Computer.

And if that still doesn't work, you can also transfer music wirelessly with Winamp.

Thank you. I just installed the yahoo mail app. The app works great. I thought it would be nice to have both email accounts in the same mail program. I am now glad I installed the yahoo mail app.

When I unlock my phone, the clock widget seems to always update itself by flipping and it is always exactly 1 hour 2 minutes behind my time when it flips. Does anyone else do this, is that just the way it is or is there a setting I need to check.

Watched some Youtube vids and theirs did it also, have to watch closely when they unlock but their clock widget updates too and it was 1 hour 2 minutes then it flips as soon as they unlock, odd for it to do that but at least it's not just mine LOL!!

I'm new to Android, but is there a way to prevent some apps (such as "Stocks" for example) and others from running unless you actually choose to open them?

I downloaded Advanced Task Manager, and it seems like every time I open it, there are certain apps that always (or virtually always) show as running, and for the most part, they are ones that I do not need unless I specifically want to view them

Go to settings: Date & Time. Make sure everything is correct. Mine is set to Automatic. It looks like you can change it manually also.

Is your weather set to update automatically? When I open the weather app, go to settings, I cannot choose to update automatically.

I have 2 gmail accts sync'd to my phone. Is there a way to have a short cut for each? I'm having to manually switch in the Google app to see each unique mailbox

Hi, this is a pretty newb question, but i cannot figure out this people function. I know the people widget is based on groups. All of my groups are blank.

When i go to add contacts to my group, the list of contacts is blank even though i have tons of people in the people list.

Can anyone walk me through this step by step? Why is my contact list blank?

I don't know if you figured out yet but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in. Make sure your wifi is OFF while setting up IMAP or it will not work.

For your contacts, did you get those backed up on the SIM card??? Because if so, they should have transferred, like mine did.

Second, the widget for people is something that I don't have any experience with, so as hard as it is to say this, I cannot help you here.

Sorry,

Matt

Yes your weather widget will refresh every 3 hours, unless you change it. If I can remember how to do so, I will get back to you. While I was going through the phone today I saw that setting, so I will do my best to find it.

Matt

UPDATE::: OK, when you click on the clock/weather widget, you come to the desk clock. Then you click on the desk clock to update the widget. Then touch the "Menu" capacitive button and pull up Settings. For me, for some reason, I cannot choose the update schedule, but you may. For me, it may be because I have a different launcher that also runs on the phone. Could be different for you, but I could access it earlier before I installed that launcher.

Hope that helped!

Matt

I don't have any idea of what to do here, but I tried the switching thing that you do and didn't find it hard or a waste of time. The way I did it was go into the Gmail app, then click on my e-mail address and change it from there. If that is how your doing it, I think it will work out fine, but if not, let me know.

does anyone elses phone freeze occasionally when typing text messages? Mine seems to have short lapses where the phone doesn't detect me touching the screen. This only last for a few seconds then goes back to normal. Too many apps running perhaps?

I downloaded handcent. Is there a way to stop texts from showing up in the stock sms app? Every text I get a handcent notification and one for the default sms app.

Hey Marc, can you post a screen shot of what we should all see when we log into our account as for data plans? I just looked at my and it's still says the iPhone unlimited, so I know I'm not getting all the speed I could be.

Just got the phone a few hours ago from radio shack and i'm loving it so far. Does anyone know how to close out open apps. I can bring up the task manager by holding the home button and it pops up, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out to close apps. Long presses don't seem to do anything. Thanks in advance for future replies.

The EN means English. If you add other language keyboard that's where you switch

Why in the world is there no Japanese IME on Android? It can read and display Japanese just fine, however there are not IME keyboards/languages for it.... I tried a couple IME apps, but they never worked right, I don't think they are compatible with 2.2 or the phone.

Until the phone is rooted, there's nothing you can do about those.

On the front screen, my location (shown immediately under the time) never changes. Any idea how I get it to track? Not a big deal but it would be nice to see the weather where I am rather than where I was...

There was a thread with a size comparison picture between the iPhone 4 and the Inspire (both in the same shot).

Can't seem to find it. Anybody know what thread it was in?

Googling for that pic doesn't seem to turn it up either.

I've got a couple help questions. First, has anyone tried to get the in-line headphone controls to work when playing music? I read on the Desire forums that this was a problem with the Desire, and I didn't know if it was fixed. I tried using my iPhone headphones but the in-line controls didn't work. I didn't know if it had to do with headphone compatability or if it was phone functionality. Second, my car has a factory USB connection to integrate into the stereo (it's a 2010 Nissan Maxima). The connection worked fine with my iPhone 4, but I can't get it to work with the Inspire. I tried mounting as mass storage, but the stereo doesn't reconginize it. Also, according to the car specs, the USB connection works with "iPods and other compatible devices". I'm wondering if it's something to do with the way Apple products transmit data over USB that makes it not work with my phone. Any help would be great. BTW - this is my first Android phone and I like it much better than my iPhone 4 hands-down.

Can't seem to find it. Anybody know what thread it was in?

Googling for that pic doesn't seem to turn it up either.
esato.com will let you compare any 2 or 3 phones and show you relative sizes if you want.

Well, you can hide any app you want if you install Launchpro and use it instead of Sense. (no rooting required!)

But, who would want to do that?

Well for instance in sense 2.0 the integrated social media with contact in the apps and phone features. Besides your gonna add an app which is basically a bite if of sense just to take up space on your phone. I wouldn't do that

Unless hiding apps is critically important to you, stick with Sense.

Any Sense widgets will NOT work with Launcherpro. Love that clock and weather widget and how it looks? Gone. There are close replacements, of course, but you're just loading more and more apps to get back the stuff you lost just to hide apps in the drawer.

IMO Sense is running beautifully, I have no desire to add any other launchers.

anyone know how to delete a contact from the favorites widget? I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

FYI, delete isn't the correct choice =/
