Default SamMobile

Hello again!

I have rooted my phone today and want to install this firmware :

SamMobile Firmware Page

It is official and not custom. The reason I decided to use custom is that I am happy enough to have the official firmware - I'm just fed up of waiting for Orange to release their version.

As this is official from Samsung, will it increase my binary counter or anything like that? And as my phone doesn't need to be rooted for this, is it worth un-rooting??

Are there any guides anywhere on how to flash this new firmware?

There's no need to unroot first and it won't increase your flash counter.
There's a guide to flashing here

Thanks for the link. Last question... The file is for o2 phones, will it work on orange? Also, would you recommend I unroot for this?

That's the one I've downloaded . . I don't know if the o2/orange conflict would affect anything? Unbranded would be ideal but so far I can't find anything

Cheers mate, you're getting me through all this stuff.. I'm pretty tech-ed up (honest) just don't want to brick my phone. Am I ok to use the o2 firmware on Orange phone now it's rooted or should I use a custom ROM?

I chickened out right before pressing start in Odin. Think I'm going to try Omega or likewise, and try the polish release. Let me know what you decide. I won't be able to do it for a couple days now so interested to know how it goes

cool.

Just flashed the o2 ROM to my s3 to get a taste of 4.1.2 - loving it!

When I decide to try a new ROM like Omega or BTU, do I just flash the ROM like I did the o2 firmware or do I need to return to stock first?

You can just re-flash BTU or another one. I went from the leaked (which was Middle East) to Polish to BTU no problems.

Some people have odd issues where a factory reset is necessary.

Might be worth anyway - flash BTU, factory wipe - that will give you the least issues down the line ..

Omega is a custom ROM. This will be flashed via clockwork mod recovery as its a .zip file. All custom roms with cwm, all official roms with Odin
