Default DjeMBeY ROM's i9505 - Dummies Guide

#1.0. DjeMBeY is not a developer that I have come across before owning the S4 but if I had to compare him to anyone, it would be to salesale of NEAT ROM fame who will be well known to S2 and S3 owners.

His ROM's are all stock Samsung for the i9505 and come either Odexed or DeOdexed. They all have the stock firmware look which, personally, I prefer.

They also have the advantage that they come pre-rooted and so therefore, flashing the ROM also roots your phone. He also has a prodigious output and usually produces his ROM's within a day or two of their official release.

His ROM's fall into 2 main categories, Stock and Modified and can be found in his posts, #1 and #2, here...

#1.1. "Pre-Rooted STOCK FW - Odex - KNOX 0x1" (for installation see #2.0 in post #2 below)

- FULLY ROOTED
- Odexed
- No need for Insecure Kernels.
- Complete, Odin flashable Packages.
- Can be used on Non-Rooted devices.
- Binary Flash Counter will NOT increase
- System status will stay NORMAL/OFFICIAL.
- Only 1 file and you have a complete firmware including Root permission.
- Fully working KIES & OTA updates (FYI: root will be lost after software update)

#1.2. "Pre-Rooted Modified FW - DeOdex - KNOX 0x1" (for installation see #2.0 in post #2 below)

- Pre-Rooted
- Unbranded
- DeOdexed
- DeBloated
- Zipaligned
- Super-SLIM (1.1GB)
- Device Status - OFFICIAL
- Fully working OTA and KIES updates
- Patched NfcNci.apk - working NFC Payment / NFC Tags
- Patched SecEmail.apk + SecExchangeServices.apk - working HOTMAIL and all other Accounts
- No other modifications

#1.3. "GT-I9505 Modified & Stock ROMs - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:" (for installation see #2.10 in post #2 below)

- Pre-Rooted
- Unbranded
- Odexed/DeOdexed
- DeBloated
- Zipaligned
- SuperSlim (1.1 GB)
- Fully working KIES updates (with STOCK RECOVERY!!)
- Patched NfcNci.apk - working NFC Payment / NFC Tags
- Patched SecEmail.apk + SecExchangeServices.apk - working HOTMAIL and all other Accounts

#1.4. Both the Pre-Rooted STOCK FW - Odex - KNOX 0x1 and Pre-Rooted Modified FW - DeOdex - KNOX 0x1 need to be flashed via Odin.

#1.5. The GT-I9505 Modified & Stock ROMs - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP: is for those who already have a custom recovery installed on their devices and are CWM/TWRP flashable .zip packages on the phone.
(N.B. You will still need to flash the modem for your ROM through Odin after downloading it from here.)

#1.6. Below is just a brief sample of some of the app's removed in the Modified ROM's. These may vary from ROM to ROM. Currently, the MH1 Modified ROM has 61 app's, (416MB), removed. Please check the Removed apps packages for individual ROM's.

AllSharePlay15.apk
Blurb.apk
ChatON_feature.apk
ChatONV_J.apk
CHS_J_Device_only.apk
Chrome.apk
Dropbox.apk
Earth.apk
Episodes.apk
Flipboard.apk
InteractiveTutorial.apk
Magazines.apk
Match3VS.apk
MusicLiveShare.apk
PickUpTutorial.apk
SamsungBooks.apk
SamsungLearning.apk
SamsungGames.apk
SamsungHub.apk
SHealth2.apk
StoryAlbumWidget.apk
TravelService.apk
TravelWidget.apk
TripAdvisor.apk
YahoonewsPhone2013.apk
YahoostockPhone2013.apk

A nice touch is that if you opt for a Modified ROMs and find that you need one or two of the, almost, 60+ removed stock app's, DjeMBeY has these available as an add-on's package so that you can create your own ROM. Personally, I did not need any of the removed apps. It also means that these Modified ROMs come in at around 1GB smaller than the bloated stock ROM's. Download time is also a lot quicker on DjeMBeY's site, around 5-10 min's, rather than the 90-120 min's on the free SamMobile site.

#1.7. For modems, (radios), for the ROMs in #1.3...

Odin flashable modems for Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE - GT-I9505

For more details, instructions, technical questions and downloads you can visit DjeMBeY's forum site, here:-

I9505 Pre-Rooted Stock ROMs Odin/CWM

Whilst you are visiting you may like to make a donation for all of DjeMBeY's hard work and time spent on bringing these ROM's to you and so that he may continue to do so in the future. Even if it's just enough to buy him a beer to say.. Thanks!

This is a step-by-step guide, with videos and screenshots, for absolute beginners to Android and the Galaxy S4. Please read this post carefully and thoroughly as they will take you through the flashing, rooting and recovery installation procedure and answer most of your queries.

This guide is for the Samsung Galaxy S4, GT-i9505 quad core phone only and no other variant!

If you are unsure of the model of your phone, go to... Settings > More > About device > Model number

(If you use this guide on any other model of phone do not come crying to me... you have been warned!)

(WARNING On firmwares that are Knox security enabled, the following instructions will result in the Knox security flag being increased. See, Knox Security & locked bootloader on new firmwares for more details.)

#2.0. Flashing & rooting using Odin and either the DjeMBeY, "Pre-Rooted STOCK FW - Odex - KNOX 0x1", or, "Pre-Rooted Modified FW - DeOdex - KNOX 0x1", ROM's

#2.1. What hardware do I need?

Galaxy S4, GT-i9505 quad core phone

USB lead that came with the phone.

A Windows PC running, XP, Vista or Windows 7 or 8

#2.2. What software do I need?

7-Zip (or similar... WinRAR or WinZip) to extract the .zip files on your PC. Download, here.

Odin3 v3.09. This is the PC programme that will install the rooted kernel to your phone. Unzip the file and run Odin3 v3.09. Download, here.

Samsung Kies. This is a PC Suite for the Samsung. Download and install to your PC as you will require the drivers that come bundled with it, to connect your phone to the PC and Odin3.

Download for Windows, here.

When you have downloaded and installed Kies, connect your phone via the USB lead to ensure that it is working. If you encounter any problems connecting your phone to Kies, see this trouble shooting guide, here.

#2.3.The pre-rooted DjeMBeY ROM

Both the Stock ROM, #1.1, or the Modified Stock ROM, #1.2, need to be flashed to your phone using Odin. They are suitable for either rooted or unrooted phones as they will root your phone automatically. Both of these ROM's are, "No wipe", and your data should be safe but, as with any flashing procedure, it is recommended that you backup all your data first.

Download your choice of DjeMBeY ROM, here.

Download the .zip file to your desktop and unzip it. To extract the file, just right click on it and select 7-Zip/WinRAR/Winzip and, "Extract here". This extracted .tar file is the one you will need. This is the .tar file that contains the DjeMBeY ROM that will root your phone. To avoid confusion you can now delete the original .zip file that it came with.

#2.4. ROM flashing procedure

You should by now have installed Samsung Kies and Odin3 on your PC and be able to connect via your USB lead. Also, you have the correct DjeMBeY ROM .tar file on your home screen.

Important: If you are rooting for the first time you should make a note of your phone's, "Version" in case you ever need to revert back to stock firmware. To do this, open the dial pad and type in the following:- *#1234#

This will give you 3 lines of information about your phones firmware and CSC code, etc: You should make a careful note of all this information and keep it somewhere safe in case you ever need to un-root by flashing your stock firmware and kernel.

#2.5. Step 1.

Ensure that your phone is fully charged.

On your phone, go to... Settings > More > About device > Build number and tap 7 times on it. This will enable the hidden, “Developer options”, menu when you go back to the, “More”, menu. Open the, “Developer options”, menu and check, “USB debugging”. See video, here.

Put your phone into Download mode by turning it off completely and then press and hold the following buttons... Volume Down + Home (centre hard key) + (lastly) Power. Continue to hold these buttons until your phone boots into the Warning! screen asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel. Press Volume Up. See video, here.

#2.6. Step 2.

Right click on Odin3 and select, "Run as Administrator", to open it. Ensure that the Samsung Kies programme is NOT running at the same time as this can cause problems

With Odin3 displayed on your PC screen, click on the AP button, (shown as PDA on earlier versions of Odin), and navigate to the .tar file, that you placed on your home screen, and select it.

Make sure that Re-Partition is unchecked and that Auto Reboot, F.Reset Time and AP are checked and that the AP box now contains your .tar file.

#2.7. Step 3.

Connect your phone, still in Download mode, to the PC using the USB lead. If you have successfully connected to Odin3 you should see the ID:COM box in Odin turn yellow or light blue, (depending on which version of Odin you are using).

#2.8. Step 4.

In Odin click the Start button and you should see a green progress bar above ID:COM and shortly after that the box above it will turn green with the word PASS! in it and your phone will automatically reboot.

You can now disconnect from the USB lead. If your Phone Status shows CUSTOM, remove battery for few seconds and check again, if still nothing, perform FACTORY DATA RESET.

If you are unsure whether your phone is now rooted you can install Root Checker Basic, free from the Market, and run it.

#2.9. Whilst DjeMBeY ROM has now rooted your phone, it only offers the basic stock recovery options and you will still need to flash a custom recovery or CWM, (ClockWorkMod), to allow you to install custom Rom .zip files and kernels as well as make the all important, "nandroid", backups and restores as well as a whole host of other features available for modding.

To install the PhilZ custom touch recovery, follow the steps in PhilZ CWM Recovery - Dummies Guide.

***Now read post #3 of the Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide for important information on safeguarding your phone.

#2.10. Flashing DjeMBeY's, "GT-I9505 Modified & Stock ROMs - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:", ROM

This method is for those who are already rooted and have a Custom Recovery, see Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide, and wish to install the DjeMBeY CWM flashable ROMs.

Before doing anything, you should do a nandroid, Titanium and /efs file backups to your external SD card.

These are your, "Get out of jail FREE" cards in case anything goes wrong, now or in the future.

Download the DjeMBeY ROM .zip file of your choice, either Modified or Stock, here.

Place it on your external SD card, safest place, (if you downloaded it using your phone it will be in... "/mnt/sdcard/Download").

You should now boot your phone into Recovery mode, see video, here, and select Install zip and choose External sdcard. You then navigate to the DjeMBeY ROM .zip file you downloaded and install it. Before rebooting it is a good idea to also select Wipe cache partition and, under Advanced, Wipe dalvik cache. Now, go back and select Reboot System now.

If you are unsure whether your phone is now rooted you can install Root Checker Basic, free from the Market, and run it.

To install the PhilZ custom touch recovery, follow the steps in PhilZ CWM Recovery - Dummies Guide.

Tips for using this Dummies Guide.

I have tried to keep this, "Dummies Guide", as simple and easy to understand as possible for absolute beginners, with no prior knowledge of Android and the Samsung Galaxy S4, whilst trying to cover the most commonly asked questions about rooting.

#3.1. Please take the time to read posts #1, and #2 carefully and thoroughly before posting a question as they should contain most of the answers you require.

#3.2. If a reply to a question states, "See, #1.7". It means that the answer to your query is already contained in post #1, item #7. Re-read that item again, carefully, and it should answer your question and saves the time and trouble of having to repeat things all over again.

#3.3. When posting a question you must include your phone, "Version", details as shown in #2.4 as well as the DjeMBeY ROM you are flashing.

#3.4. Please, please, please, help keep this thread on topic. It is designated for the actual flashing of DjeMBeY ROM's to your phone and not for general questions about custom kernels, other custom ROMs, Kies connection problems, apps, nandroid backups and restores, etc: There are other threads on the forum for that or you can start one of your own.

#3.5. Please do not PM me with questions. I will not reply. Ask them on the forum so that others may benefit from the questions and answers or post a question on the DjeMBeY ROM's forum, here.

#3.6. WARNING

Rooting your phone could, in theory, void your warranty in certain cases. Also, you will no longer be able to update your phone via Kies or OTA, (Over The Air), in some cases and will need to flash ROM's via Odin or CWM Recovery... which is probably why you rooted anyway!

Whilst I have taken every care in compiling this guide, I cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur through its use, or mis-use, and the decision to use this guide lies with you, the owner.

This guide is written solely for, and on behalf of, Android Forums and may not be reproduced, in part or whole, without permission.

THANKS

My thanks go to the following for their help and contributions to this guide:-

DjeMBeY for his kernel and instructions. Feel free to make a donation to him.

Phil3759 for his recovery and instructions. Feel free to make a donation to him.

To our very own Hawker, for his Kies troubleshooting guide.

To Nokia7Vista, olis4 and FastGSMServer for their videos.

To all the Android Forum posters whose posts I have plundered in an attempt to organise a definitive guide.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, S4, ATR Sydney99!

Right... that's my being nice to you done with Syd!

Now... if you follow your usual format, you'll bring the KoD, (Kiss of Death), to anything you flash from now on.

Up until I started writing post #1, MF5 was the latest. However, as I mentioned, this dev's output is prodigious and MF8 is now the latest and I am about to flash it myself. So wait before giving it the Syd KoD!

For your info, all the latest stock ROM's have extra enhancements over the original releases, re: Atma's post, here...

UPDATE The Syd KoD has started already.

Just flashed the SuperSlim, DeOdexed, MF8, ROM and I appear to be having a problem with my custom ringtones, notifications and alarms being recognised. Have reflashed the ROM using Odin but still the same problem. Strange, it didn't happen to me on all the other ROM's. Will give the dev a shout.

EDIT Have reverted back to the MF5 nandroid that I made prior to flashing MF8. Will re-download MF8 and re-try later.

UPDATED, UPDATE Panic over! It must have been a dodgy download for me. Re-downloaded the Stock, modified, MF8 ROM and flashed with Odin and then flashed the CF-Auto-Root and then PhilZ Recovery, (you have to flash CF-Auto_Root if you want the PhilZ custom recovery, otherwise, no need). Everything appears hunky dory now!

Flashing chainfire autoroot on pre-rooted rom can cause a mess, don't do it.

Have tested and flashed CF-Auto-Root to enable PhilZ recovery on 5 of DjeMBeY's pre-rooted ROM's to-date, with no problems thus far. I am aware of the dev's warning on this and am clarifying it with him before publishing any definitive Dummies Guide instructions for general use.

Good for you. Well done.

But perhaps this may be very useful for those of us who haven't.

After all, that's the good thing about a helpful forum

Hey mate

I did't know about this forum, thanks for link.
You DON'T have to use CF-AR for my Pre-Rooted ROM as it's all there... SuperSU.apk can be missing after using CF-AF and you'll have to install it from PlayStore manually though

Hello and Welcome to Android Forums DjeMBeY!

Thanks for taking the time to come and pay a visit. Thanks also for the prompt reply to my PM earlier today and for clarifying the PhilZ procedure.

As soon as I have a spare 5 min's I shall write a full Dummies Guide as discussed.

I must say, that the Modified, DeOdexed, ROM's that I have used so far have been excellent and your rate of turnaround after the official stock Samsung releases is blooming good.

Keep up the good work DjeMBeY

Totally chilled, thank you Shocky!

I was merely trying to clarify your statement and possibly elicit your opinion on DjeMBeY's ROM's.

DjeMBeY has now added the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Special Edition ROM to his portfolio.

This is very quick work from him as the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition phone only went on sale, $649, less than 2 days ago.

The ROM comes in a CWM flashable .zip, so you will need to be rooted and have a Custom Recovery installed.

GT-I9505 GOOGLE Special Edition ROM - CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP:

- Pre-Rooted
- faux123 Kernel
- DeOdexed
- Zipaligned
- NO WIPE

(Although listed as NO WIPE, I would strongly suggest a nandroid, Titanium and efs file backup beforehand and to wipe cache and dalvik in recovery before installation)

Well I tried the Google edition....didn't work out for me! Kept getting errors when doing things like open dialer and messaging app. That and I like the pull down menu toggles Samsung offer where Google don't have the same. It was nice and slick, for all I used it.Lol

I'm on MF8, Modified stock version, flashed through Odin, PC, and no problems with Wi-Fi here old son. I guess you may have used the CWM .zip version maybe.

I flashed V2 Special Edition on a full wipe yesterday but like yourself and Atma, I found the stock Google Android to be a bit too featureless and basic and whilst I use DjeMBeY's Lite/Modified MF8 Rom with a lot of the bloatware removed, I prefer things like the camera features, toggles and icons from Samsung that are still there. However, for some, it is nice to have the option I suppose.

It was indeed the cwm version I flashed....so you think it might be an issue with that then?

I was actually also trying out omega as I like the add ons such as no mms conversion etc but version 7 which is mf8 had the same issue(tried flashing it over stock mf8 and over stock mf5 and on its own.Lol), otherwise mf5 is working out quite nicely for now. Though using chrome theme :-)

I've a suggestion .. how about some guidance on which version to flash? I've types 8#1234# and got a list on info but looking at DjemMBey's thread I'm none the wiser about which ROM would be suitable? I find the CSC thing most confusing!

These are custom ROM's and you can therefore flash any version that you like as they all contain the English language pack. See first paragraph of warning in #4.6.

As per my reply to you, here...

There is no DjeMBeY ROM that is a direct mirror for your existing firmware as this is quite old now.

UPDATE

I gave Google SE v3 CWM my best shot DjeMBeY. Coming from Modified MF8 with PhilZ recovery, I did a Factory Reset and a cache and Dalvik wipe and then installed the .zip file and rebooted but was bombarded by a series of, "processes stopped", such as android acore, Media storage, gapps, etc:

I had that first time I flashed the 4.2 Google edition, but it was fine yesterday when I flashed it again, nothing force closing etc really nice and smooth, just didn't like the notification bar and many if the other nexus features vs the Samsung features, will be interesting to see what Samsung give us 4.3 wise :-)

OK. Up and running after DjeMBeY's advice on a system wipe as well.

New apps...

Current = News. Telegraph, Independent, Guardian, etc:

Keep = Note taking app

People = Contacts. Now in white background with contact photos on right

Wi-Fi Advanced = Wi-Fi optimisation (minimise battery usage when Wi-Fi is on)

Chrome = default browser

General observations: Status bar is Android blue. Cannot seem to take screen shots. Drag down Notification menu is spartan... Brightness, Settings, Wi-Fi, carrier signal, battery%, Aeroplane mode and bluetooth are on a separate toogle page. Camera is very basic with minimum settings in a half moon setup.

I know that some of us complain about the Samsung bloatware but there are certain features and UI that I am missing from Android 4.2.2, MF8. The drop down notification panel with everything on one page. The settings menu layout. S-Planner. Multi coloured icons.

This ROM is very fast and responsive and working perfectly now.

However, for the time being, I am reverting back to Android 4.2.2.

One of the biggest favours that Samsung have done for us modders is to build a phone and have a battery that can handle not just the Android stuff but also all the Samsung bloatware. This is because that when that bloatware is removed, as in DjeMBeY's Modified Rom's, there is a lot of battery to be had.

DjeMBeY ROM, modified, MF8

Also, by removing some of that bloatware it frees up some space on your phone. All my 86 apps are on Internal memory. See #1.5 and #1.6

Heres an interesting one . I had Philz installed already and then flashed Djembeys ROM. Everything in ODIN went as described in your thread here Ironass. It reset into Philz asking me to install an untrusted .zip. With 2 failed warnings in the list below. Upon reboot it asked to remove custom recovery. The phone reboots and no Rom has been installed yet Odin says PASS. My head is jumbled. Should I somehow remove Philz before Flashing this ROM? It didnt seem to like it. Maybe I should update Philz first?

EDIT: Id not done a full wipe prior. Perhaps this was it. Id only know by trying I guess. However untill I purchase a decent sized External SD I will be leaving it alone. Having 2gb internal is a joke. I never had this problem on the S2.

EDIT #2: Further pondering. Not doing a full wipe shouldn't necessarily cause a ROM fail. So perhaps it would be due to the fact Im trying to use ODIN to install the ROM and not CWM. Gonna go that route this time. Phew its a much longer download. Side question then..On installing this ROM via CWM , is it safe to assume I would still need to install the Wifi fix via ODINs Phone mode?

Not sure I can help you massively rudedawg, but I can express my past experience.... I flashed the mf8 via cwm coming from mf5, I tried with wipe, without all sorts, Wi-Fi just wouldn't work, tried the Wi-Fi fix and it made no difference for me :-( then tonight I rerooted with mf5, flashed philz, did a complete wipe (install New Rom option) booted into download, flashed mf8 and everything is working :-) just to be sure, after the phone rebooted, I flashed philz as it was there anyway, I had tried booting into it, but failed,I think due to my key press.... anyway, everything is now working as should be, week except philz recognising my 64gb card, but otherwise.... ;-)

Hi Rudedawg! You don't mention which version, stock, modified or CWM, that you are trying to install. I'm guessing that you were trying to flash the CWM .zip using Odin.

As I mentioned to sntaylor, earlier this evening, I would recommend the stock modified, MF8, ROM, see #1.2, flashed via Odin as the CWM version, see #1.3, requires a Wi-Fi patch flash via Odin, anyway.

It took me some time to PROPERLY read through everything to finally sus that you were referring to your own posts rather than the XDA thread. Once this was establish and I read certain words and sentences slowly in my head did the penny drop.

Honestly matey If I did this all the time Id be in a much better place.

So I got this installed now. My about device now states MF8. I dunno about anything else though as none of those apps listed have been removed. Still all there.

Did you do a Factory Reset before flashing?

Did you use the Odin version of the ROM mentioned in #1.2?

Did you use a Titanium Backup to restore apps and did that backup include the system apps that had been removed?

Ok it would appear I lost my root. So would explain a few things. No I didnt full wipe only clear cache/dalvik.

As for titanium I removed a few apps which were red but considered green due to a colour chart you have on your dummies guide to rooting. Perhaps unfreezing everything first would be better. Ill do a full wipe after nandroid tonight and start again from scratch.

Also id have to link the rom version tonight also as on my phone currently. It was an .zip with 2 files within. One being a .tar file. Perhaps ive just flashed an unmodified stock and not checked. I guess well see.

Downloaded file was named : I9505XXUBMF8-PRE-ROOTED-DEODEXED-SuperSlim-CWM. It extracted to this : I9505XXUBMF8_I9505OXABMF8_I9505XXUBMF8_HOME.tar.md 5

The trouble is your guide lists 3 different types of download however it really isnt as simple as that. There is no mention of CSC files as these are the only ones mentioned by Djembey that are installed via ODIN.

See below as this is what most will see:

So lets say I go with the Post #2 files labeled "
CWM flashable ROM's has been moved to post #2!"

Let's see:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42798412&postcount=2

There is 3 panes. One is the Google special edition , the next is stock unmodified and the 3rd modified. The third panel has different versions and in each 7 links within.

Code:
Model: GT-I9505 (4.2.2)
PDA: XXUBMF8
PHONE: XXUBMF8
CSC: OXABMF8 (8 codes)
Kernel: 3.4.0-917495 (19.06)
Build Date: 19.06.2013
Changelist: 917495
Original Stock ROM: Download: <<< Hotfile >>>
Stock KERNEL - ZIP: Downloads: <<< Android Host >>>
Stock RECOVERY - ZIP: Downloads: <<< Android Host >>>
Pre-Rooted ROM - ZIP: Downloads: <<< Android Host >>>
WiFi FIX - Open in Odin as PHONE - Download: <<< Dev-Host >>>
Deleted apps (XXUBMF8 - DEODEXED) - Downloads: <<< Android Host >>>
PATCHED SecPhone.apk (Call Recording + NO increasing ringtone) - Download: CWM flashable package
As an example.

I had selected the ANDROID HOST link after Pre-rooted ROM. This would make sense correct? This is also where I had found my file mentioned earlier , and that of course which I had rooted. And that is what I did.

So if indeed I did do correctly then one can assume not full wiping may of coursed the bad flash.Even if Odin was happy with it.

So apologies for typing as maybe a barrister in court would but I wanted it to be clear. Now feel free to tear me a new one and tell me im over complicating matters.

P.s that file I did flash seemed to install a load of dodgy german apps like X taxi on my phone. Its like it did the opposite to debloating.

EDIT: Nope reflashing that file just did the same as before. Now I just have a fresh install of a german MF8 stock Rom unrooted. I really don't get this. Please link to the EXACT file to flash.

My guide lists 3 types of ROM in my post #1 and these are indexed as #1.1, #1.2 and #1.3. No mention is made of mods such as CSC files by me. Both the stock ROMs and the stock modified ROMs are flashed via Odin as per DjeMBeY's instructions in his post #1 in his xda thread..

3. Make sure that ONLY AutoReboot & F.Reset Time is ticked in Odin options
4. Download and extract one of Pre-Rooted ROM's
5. Load extracted file (.tar.MD5) as PDA in Odin.
6. Turn OFF your phone, Press&Hold POWER+HOME+VOLUME_DOWN buttons until phone boot into Download/Odin Mode
7. Connect phone to the computer and WAIT for the drivers to be installed. You will see blue or yellow indicator in left top corner of Odin, with phone connected to port: COM:x
8. Click START and wait until you see GREEN indicator [PASS], flashing is finished
9. Unplug USB cable and enjoy.
10. If your Phone Status shows CUSTOM, remove battery for few seconds and check again, if still nothing, perform FACTORY DATA RESET.
NOTE: you can use Triangle Away, tick "System modified workaround" option and restart your phone. Device Status will change back to OFFICIAL without Factory Reset.
TESTED ON I9505!! Works like charm...
I also mention his third type of ROMs, the CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP, which are flashed via recovery as there name implies.

Nowhere in my Dummies Guide do I refer to the various ROMs locations in DJeMBeY's xda thread but only by their titles.

That is not an Odin flashable file but as the name inplies in DjeMBeY's heading in his post #2 in his xda thread, a, "CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP", to be flashed via recovery on a pre rooted phone that already has a custom recovery as per the instructions in #2.10 of my giude.

Sorry dude Ive read it and read it and it makes no sense to me pal. Flashed CWM version. Much simpler. However the removed roms stated do not include Drop box and chat on as these remained. No interference from titanium. Sorry mate.
I dont mean to slate your guide , merely as it is not as straight forward as you claim.

I am aware you didn't mention csc packages BUT when you click the link you provided to pick my ROM download , There is only one set of downloads mentioned by Djembey that refer to ODIN. Do you see my point? See the first pic I posted. It states go to Post #3. So you can see how I made my first mistake.

Also can someone please screenshot their about phone section so i can marry it up. Ta.

EDIT: Correction the apps including Chat on and drop box were remembered by my google account. So all is fine there.

Also Please tell me this is the correct section to download from? All from the first post in Djembeys thread.

a bit late now as the ROM seems successful via CWM but this is really playing with my mind.

My download link for the CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP downloads merely takes you to DjeMBeY's xda thread, as a whole and not to a specific download site, I agree. This is because that in the short time that the ROMs have been in existance, the precise post locations have changed constantly as the dev has added more and varied ROMs. However, as mentioned in my previous reply, the dev quite clearly states that both the stock and stock modified ROMs are flashable via Odin in his Flashing instructions.

So, we have 3 versions of his ROMs. 2 of which, stock and stock modified, are flashable via Odin and the 3rd type, CWM/TWRP/PhilZ flashable ZIP, is flashable via custom recovery... agreed?

That is the correct section if you want to download the, "Modified", ROM mentioned in #1.2 with apps removed and flashable via Odin as per #2.0-#2.9 in my post #2.

You've ticked all my boxes Mr Ass. I seem to be at last up to date.

One last thing , Ive noticed the stock Email app crashes or at least fails to load. Is this a known issue? Ive tried using K9 and it simply wont connect to any of my imap or pop servers like the stock app did.

EDIT: Tried Aqua Mail from google play and it worked first time. No further issue.

Horses for courses I guess. Aqua is a nice interface.

Ok so for me thr stock Email app force closes. And when I recieve a text I sometimes get exchange service failed pop up.

Also texts dont display the senders name on the pop up. Only a generic Text message label.

Could this be a bad flash or a common issue with th3 current build?

I had similar issues previously with the email error pop up but I had done a dirty flash,I suspect a factory reset may solve the issue? The generic text message thing something you need to go into your messaging app, settings and select preview message on lockscreen :-)
