Default ECHOE Rom

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43798464

http://echoerom.com/

Anyone tried echoe? Seems a much simpler way of trying 4.3 whilst keeping on old bootloader and avoiding all the Knox/bootloader issues and complications of djembey mega Rom?

Thoughts from learned friends much appreciated before I get flash happy.....

yes im on echoe rom, very good dev

currently the newest version (MJ5) is still uploading so it may be advisable to wait a few hours.

Overall impressions with the rom are very good, very fast, very smooth. just make sure you flash the seperate mj5 modem so as to avoid the loss of data connection

I would definitely hang fire.
Currently this is built with KT kernel, in which SELinux is set to Enforcing and has bugs like no air wave control.

A a new stock kernel has now emergeed, and it seems that this will be built in with the ROM today....

I tried it a while back(it's the one with pink Floyd start up music?) And it was really buggy for me, but the updated version might be a lot better :-)

The first thing that strikes me about the Echoe ROM is that judging from the video in post #1, here, boot time is 2.58" which is actually 11 seconds longer than ABBA's Eurovision hit, "Waterloo".

I had noticed this, not a great advert! I was hoping, perhaps naively, that the new version would be better.

I noticed that. I'm wondering if it's a first boot after build? Perhaps its the only time the full boot sequence can be "enjoyed"

Would be interesting to hear off anyone that's actually using it.

I hope you're right old boy!

I was rather hoping for a boot time that matched the record your missus told me you play during sex... here.

When I was using it, you got the full song on first boot, or any other time things were updating on boot....after that, it only played the song until it completely booted so around 30 seconds of it :-)

Right, iT0mm0 or Syd... as I am going to be disappearing up my own exhaust pipe this weekend and don't have time to read all the Echoe ROM thread, here are some questions...

1. Is a Knox counter shown at all in Download mode? (Shouldn't be, just checking).

2. Can you use PhilZ recovery on it?

3. Can I use 3Minit framework on it as it is deodexed? (Should one come out).

4. Can I just flash this over MGA/MH1 with no wipe?

5. Is the Notification bar really transparent? (Not just translucent).

6. Any mods for a centred clock? (In the absence of 3Minit framework)

7. Will I be able to go back to MGA/MH1 nandroid with no ill effects?

8. Will you update this thread when the SuperSlim version is released?

9. Anything not working on this ROM?

That's it for now. Marks will be given for promptness, fullness of replies, penmanship and spelling.

My only addition is that although no 3 mint, you can flash exposed framework and then use wanam exposed app to get almost identical features to 3minit. And that includes a central clock!

Despite a late start, Syd is starting to gain ground.

Still no SuperSlim 4.3 version loaded yet, I see!

Will you and iT0mm0 both be going for that when it's released?

well, so far so good chaps....superslim is VERY slim, a lot more de-bloated than djembey slim version. all very smooth, everything works out of the box. am yet to find anything that's not working....equally not much to rave about thats in 4.3 that wasnt in 4.2.2!!

will report back re battery

it just works, and is so close to stock you could well be on a djembey rom!

no wifi issue, no mobile data issue, MJ5modem works great, wanam xposed gives the 3minit-style tweaks....happy days. oh, and still on old bootloader with no knox and custom recovery. happy days.

Thanks for the heads up old fella.

I've not had time to look at the thread recently, so:
1. Is there a removed apps zip available for the slim version?
2. Is slim bundled with audism kernel as standard with working smart stay and air gestures?...I take it that it still doesn't come with a stock kernel yet.
3. Where did you download mj5 modem? Was it from dejembey? I've heard there are problems if non-hlos.bin is flashed

I may stay on MGA if there's no real difference. I may flash it if I get bored and have a bash on wanam exposed.

I like the dreamtime clock, and assume it's still not part of samsung roms, so if any of you had a go on a 4.3 aokp rom, (emphasis on 4.3) could you post up its deskclock.apk and lockclock.apk please.

ECHOE Rom v5+ now up

Includes ausdim kernel so that smart stay, air scroll etc etc working

If you're on the older version, you can just flash the kernel in recovery without having to download the new rom: xda-developers - View Single Post - [Kernel][TW][3.4.66][Google-Edition][V19][GCC 4.8][Fade-led][Sound][Intelli-plug], and that gets these features up and running.

I'm still using pro bam which is aokp and Pac and cm10.2..... I'm unable to find it just now? Any tips....though it might not be there.

it does not trigger knox
make sure you flash the mj5 modem whilst on your current rom ( or else you WILL have wifi problems)
then install the latest v5+ as the airwave stuff works with it

If your currently oxo and on old boatloader you'll be fine! Yes, you need to install Philz recovery, then you can flash echoe Rom from there

If they're on Knox enabled firmware, post MGG, they will have the new locked bootloader and PhilZ recovery will blow the Knox fuse to 0x1 I'm guessing!

i have no idea if there is a way around this atm but a read of ironass`s post will explain things a lot better than i can

You can't flash any recovery without tripping the Knox flag. You can root, but not install custom recovery which Philz is. MH8 does have Knox enabled firmware and the locked bootloader.

If you want to keep your warranty for sure, I wouldn't even bother rooting, as messing with root files can trip the Knox flag and counter. Better safe than sorry.
