Default Galaxy Nexus ADB USB Driver

How do I get /setup a USB driver on a Windows Vista box to enable ADB to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
I have been searching for hours but haven’t found any guides yet.
Has anyone done this yet, I know the phone is relatively new but someone should have tried this by now shouldn’t they?

Taylor,

Firstly, welcome to the AndroidForums and we're very happy you signed-up with us.

I'm also going to be moving your thread to the all-things-root sub-forum if you don't mind...

Second, I don't (yet) have a Galaxy Nexus myself, but I've been reading / researching in preparation for that moment .

I think what you want is this driver file:

Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Moblie_Phones_v1_4_6_0.exe

It can be found in a couple of places:

(courtesy of this thread over on XDA: [HOWTO] Root Your Stock Galaxy Nexus - xda-developers)

-- or --

in here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15110285/FYA%20Files/GNexus-root-package-FYA.zip

(courtesy of this thread: Free Your Android - How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Manual Method)).

The driver file is included in the above GNex "root packages".

Sounds like you already know about adb and how to install it, but just in case, here's a thread that I wrote that El Presidente kindly posted about how to get adb installed (with pictures, too ):

http://androidforums.com/faqs/443072-adb-guide.html

Cheers and I hope that helps!

Welcome to the AndroidForums, Sidrenwada!

Yeah, there's been a little more information and help / tips on this issue since this thread was last updated.

Check out this post:

How to install the adb & fastboot USB drivers (MS/Windows users only)

and this thread:

I'm going to make the hardest part of rooting easy for newbs.. .right here. Yup. I am.

I'm betting you'll have a little more success now.

Cheers and again, welcome to AF--glad you signed-up with us!
