Default Change network / carrier name HTC One

My phone doesn't display the correct carrier name for my SIM. Is there a way that this can be edited like on the iPhone? Thanks.

Something like that generally requires root. Where is it displaying your network?

This does require root from what I understand as well,

however if you are seeing this in this thread:

[Resolved] Notification Bar shows "00000" where carrier name should be

then it may be something that can be fixed with a factory reset.
