Unhappy Rooted user in need of help.

hi all
am from India and i donno if my phone is locked or unlocked. But all i can say is that my phone works with any carrier in my country. So what actually hapened was, i was using the phone and opened whatsapp. The phone stuck and nothing worked. After a couple of minutes i switched off the phone. And then pressed the power button to switch it on. The phone appeared to start normally for few seconds but as soon as it showed the green htc symbol with the quietly brilliant tag on the white background, the phone stuck again. I could do nothing. I pressed the power button and the volume down key simultaneously and i found something which said
locked
hboot
and i had to select from fastboot, recovery, sim lock and a few others.
I tried recovery and then the phone got switched off and then it showed a symbol with a phone and a red hazard sign on it. I selected fastboot and then reboot and the phone got switched off but while switching on, it again got stuck on the htc logo screen.
Please help me solve this issue without loosing my data.
Thank you

It doesn't sound like you are actually a rooted user if you are locked and running the stock recovery.

Go back to the triangle and !(this is the stock recovery) and hold vol up and power until you get a menu. Use this menu to erase cache.

If the phone still fails to boot, sounds like you have more serious issues, and there is not likely a way to recover that will preserve your data.your options are to unlock the bootloader and install a recovery,or run an ruu if one fan be found.

Unfortunately, when a stock phone stops booting, more often than not, some sort of hardware failure is usually the prollem
