Cool Soon to be Epic user & Lurker of Phandroid

Hey all!

I'm a IT Support Student, skateboarder, self professed computer dork, motorsport enthusiast and an all around electronics tinkerer kind of guy.

I've been lurking in the forums for a while unregistered reading up on the various Android devices. I do not own a smart phone but I use my Gf's T-Mob My Touch, pretty sweet phone but lacks power. I have been waiting a looong time I still own an old Razor V3x on AT&T that I customized years ago flashed it/customized the ROM, re-skinned, outside lights work while ringing, games and all the old school fun stuff.

This Weds (the 1st) I'm going in to a Sprint dealer to sign on to my sisters phone plan on an additional line. I'm pretty sure I will be getting the Epic so far. From what I've read here it seems to be the best phone around hardware wise, the lack of 2.2 will hopefully be over soon that's about all that I don't care for out of the box. Used to have my heart set on the EVO for the customize abilities but once I heard about the charging problems I became more discouraged and the fact the internals are getting a bit dated made my decision more concrete. I don't really do well with touch screens for txting too so I definitely like the keyboard on the Epic. I still find myself a bit torn at times but I'm leaning to Epic.

Overall I'm excited to join the Phandroid community, I have been watching Android since it's inception patently waiting for the right phone to come along and I think now is my time.

Welcome aboard!

Both are excellent phones and it just comes down to personal preference. My wife prefers the Evo, I prefer the Epic.

Can't go wrong either way.

davidnmegan6907 LMAO Love your quote "Apples are for eating, I 'pads' are for that time of the month, but Androids are for changing your life."

I thought a similar thing when I heard iPad, I was like Now Apple has a tampon?
