Confused Need Vibrant Advice

Hello... Self-professed 'tech-****' and Android user since October 2009, with my T-Mobile MyTouch3G. Now have a Samsung Vibrant that I got a year ago. I did the 2.2/Froyo update a few months back, and now my phone eats twice the battery life, and is very laggy. My one year warranty runs out in mid July; I wonder if I should exchange it by then, or simply root it to get rid of the bloatware?

Welcome to Android Forums!

Unless you are actually launching and using the "bloatware", all it is doing is sitting there occupying space. It's not affecting your battery. If you are experiencing a lot of battery use and your phone feels sluggish, it may be an app gone rogue. First thing to look at is menu>settings>about phone>batter use and see what the biggest power user is. Then you can install Watchdog Lite (free) and monitor which apps are gobbling up your resources.

I know there have been some phones with issues after an update where if you leave WiFi and GPS antennas enabled all the time it eats through the battery. You might want to put a power widget on your home screen and only enable them when needed.

You should also make it a point to check out the Samsung Vibrant Forum to see if any other users are having similar issues.
