Welcome to Android Forums, KristyLyn.

If a battery pull does not get the phone to reboot, I fear the problem is hardware related and more serious than changing a setting or updating something. I would check LG Optimus V - Android Forums to see if this phone is prone to that sort of problem.

Wish you were here under better circumstances. Good Luck!
