I logged on to see why people were losing data signal on android

Welcome phil!
Well, losing data could be a number of different causes.
Most common is location or tower issues among other things. 3g? 4g? LTE? etc.
What device do you have? could be carrier related and could be temporary

Glad you joined and hope you get your issue resolved
