Hey, I am choosing a new smartphone and am stuck between the htc desire x, the htc one v, the Lg p700 optimus l7 and the sony xperia j
If you have any other recommendations can you please list below.
I want a smartphone that as a,
-relatively big screen
-doesn't cost too much
-can use a micro sd card
-runs android ics (or higher)
-and other essentials in a good smartphone
Depending on your carrier I would look into the Nexus 4 by LG. It looks like a real solid device and not being on VZW will have updates almost immediately after they are released from google. IIRC its $299 unsubsidized but only works on GSM carriers.
Device(s): Samsung Galaxy S3
Rom: PACman in Black
Kernel: KTZ
Recovery: TWRP
Carrier: Sprint

Welcome to the forums!
Along with the nexus 4, there is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S III. obviously notable for their rather large screen size. And both are loaded now with Jelly Bean (I think)
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

What carrier are you on or would you like to be on? That could help us (me) give some recommendations. If it's a US carrier, check amazon as they have $0.01 deals on phones around Christmas though you have to sign up for a 2yr contract.
But I am kinda looking for a cheaper smartphone as I am on a budget.
Thanks
How much you looking to spend? I'd say get a unlocked GSM phone and you can use it on TMobile, Straight Talk, or one of the other MVNO for not more than 50 a month.
Keep an eye out for deals from Radio Shack, Best Buy, Target, Amazon on phones. I got the One V on Cyber Monday for 49.99.

The screen at 3.7 inches feels cramped when texting, display is bright, battery life is decent. Phone is very light. Feels like Sense is bogging down the hardware, its not slow, but it could be better with pure ICS. There are ROMs for it, I haven't gotten around to that yet. Its okay for my needs, which is the occasional phone call and social networking when I'm away from wifi and can't use my tablet.
