I'm a novice in messing with Android devices.
I have a rooted Nook Simple Touch (the best e-ink e-reader around). The root allows me to get some apps with resources that call for long-term reading. What a treat to not have to stare at a back-lit screen for them.
I had a VM Samsung Intercept that started marching towards the graveyard. I loaded CM7 on it, but I was missing too many calls.
I've since moved on to a VM Motorola Triumph. I like to avoid root when it's not necessary, but it's time to come around and find out how to tweak my phone.
I've dabbled in Linux a bit. I have a Knoppix boot disk that I use to try to salvage info off of drives that Windows is having trouble reading. I've also messed with Fedora9. However, my triumphs seem too small for the amount of time I've poured in to the projects.
If I can ever offer help, I will. However I'm guessing I'll be running here for help.
A word of request: there's a certain amount of assumed knowledge usually in the Android/Linux community. If people can help direct to the right sticky's for explaining base knowledge as well, many of us lurkers might be more willing to integrate into the community. I'm looking forward to being a part of this.
