Default Re-root Galaxy Ace after firmware upgrade

Hi, I successfully rooted my SGA (Froyo) using SuperOneClick. I then installed Titanium Back Up and Root Explorer. I moved some apps to sd (including Maps and Think Free Office). I removed some of the useless apps that were installed by 3. All was well. I then unlocked the phone from 3 (I've got only 4 months remaining on the contract but I know 3 charges a lot more to unlock a phone than I paid for 123). Then I decided to upgrade the firmware and installed and used Kies to do so. The upgrade was successful, except for the sad fact that all the 3 bloatware apps were re-installed along with a new one "3film" and Think Free & Maps were re-installed to the phone. The phone is no longer rooted after the upgrade. "About phone" gives the following: Build number GINGERBREAD.XWT5 Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL772922 root@DELL149#1) I tried re-rooting with SuperOneClick but it no longer functioned. I tried it 1/2 dozen times. It stopped responding before even informing me it was waiting for the phone to be connected.

Downloaded upd_1 and followed instructions and the phone is rooted.
It took maybe 5 minutes.
All is well again.

Welcome to the forums Phil

Glad to have you here and sorry to hear about the bad luck you are having with rooting your device. More than likely you just need a different version of SuperOneClick.

Feel free to check out this thread here for some more assistance: Samsung Galaxy Ace: All Things Root Guide (updated 24-Dec-2012)

Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask them
