Default Razr I phone

I got this phone as an update from Orange last week, but cannot add a picture to a contact.
I have followed instructions in Motorola's guide but fall at the last hurdle, as the guide says to tap on a 'head and shoulders' icon on the edit contact details screen. THERE ISNT ONE.
I spoke to a guy at Orange who advised to start from the photo gallery, and all went well at first - I called up photo, cropped it and saved it to contact only to get a message saying photo was 'read only' and could not be used.
Any ideas please?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. You might try this. While in the gallery, open the pic you want to use. Next hit your menu option button. See if save as a contact icon is an option. I hope this helps. I hope you enjoy your time on these forums and thanks for joining the community.
