Default Laucher problem

I have had problems with the launcher crashing on nexus s and various suggestions say to clear launcher data. Can anyone tell me if this wipes anything off your phone??? I dont want to do it in case!!

Hey there and welcome to android forums

If you clear the launcher data only, the only thing that would be wiped off is your app icons and widgets from your home screen. Nothing else is deleted as far as I know of.

Hope this helps you

erm..

just to make sure, im about to do this and a little message appears saying it will clear all files, settings and data and my friend is unsure if it will delete pictures as well... so im double double checking ..

ps.. any chance you can explain what rooting means on a phone ( apart from sticking it in a plant pot, watering it and seeing what happens)

thank you

As I said before, it only deletes your launcher settings (app icons, widgets etc that's on your home screen.)

Doesn't actually delete any data on the phone itself.

You can poke through this as well about what rooting is:

What is root or being rooted mean?
