Mount your SD card and install a ROM. It should boot normally after install.

It sounds like you are in fast boot. Boot into recovery instead when the option is there (during the blue screen time). Do youwamt to install a custom ROM? If so, factory reset and wipe cache , dalvik cache and system all while in recovery. Then flash the rom zip file and gapps file if needed. Then when you reboot from recovery be sure to choose "reboot system".

do you know how to get into the recovery page? when you get there, its the 4th button says "wipe" touch that. and you'll see 8 other options. touch cache, itll say are you sure then press the button. then do the same with dalvik cache and system.

Kindle Fire TWRP Tutorial: Creating Backups and Installing Custom ROMs - YouTube
if you watch that you can get a good idea on how the recovery page works. and shows how to install a rom and the location of the wipe options are.

ohhh your using cwm recovery. thats why we were all getting confused im not really familiar with cwm for the kindle. but if you want heres a video thatll show how to install twrp recovery How to install TWRP 2.0 Recovery on Kindle Fire? - YouTube
and to download it you can go here [RECOVERY]TWRP 2.2.2.0 touch recovery [2012-08-24] - xda-developers and it tells you how to download it. unless someone else is familiar with using cwm. i might try and read up later on it if you prefer to keep that.

Further, hashcode himself has said to stay away from cwm. You MUST use twrp if you don't want any issues.

just hook your kindle up to your computer and put the rom in a folder. i always put mine in the download folder. then from there boot into recovery, find the rom in the folder you put it in, and install. dont forget to wipe cache, dalvik and system before rebooting.

when you have a rom installed it gives you a different screen look and everything. the ironic thing about roms for the kindle fire is you dont get the actual kindle app anymore. so what you have to do is download the kindle app from the play store so you can read your books. you'd think rom makers would preload their roms with the kindle app or another e-book reader lol. and as far as watching movies do you mean with the amazon prime? once you root your kindle it takes away the choice of being able to have the free amazon prime. if you have netflix you can watching netflix on there though. i know that works.

read this thread [Guide] How to restore to pure stock (no root, FFF, etc.) with TWRP - xda-developers and itll show how to take your kindle back to the way it was. if your not happy with that rom theres many more to choose from. i use eye candy --> [ROM][AROMA]EyeCandy-Kindle Edition- v3.6--BETA!! - xda-developers easy to use and i like it.

Here's what I would do. you're running TWRP as your recovery right?

Hold the power button for about 30 seconds. This is like pulling out your battery.

Get on a PC and download this rom and Gapps: [ROM] [CM10] Jelly Bean ROM using SGT7 enhancements [20120828] [Linaro] - xda-developers

Then, power it back on and boot into recovery.

Mount USB storage through recovery. Copy the rom and gapps files onto your KF.

Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.

Flash rom, flash gapps.

Great success!
