First time Android user, just got the 2G Kindle Fire (non-HD)

Pretty pleased with it, but do want to access the full appstore and running JB would be nice too. Wondering if the instructions listed for the first generation models would hold up here. If anyone knows of a guide specific to the 2G that would be rad.
