Default looking for a rooting prog

I have a Kyocera Hydro C5170. The phone is not rooted. I am looking for the correct software that will root my phone. From what I found out from reading the articles posted on this forum. Just any old rooting prog won't work. It has to be the prog written for this phone or the phone could end up been a useless paper weight. Can someone please direct me to were to find the correct software.
I have been working on radios since the days when there was a tube tester in just about every store. I have learned the hard way not to mess with a new device until you know how the thing works.

Without rooting the phone I have been able to fig out how to d/l music and prog files from the laptop to the phone and find said files and music in the phone. I haven't found the directory were my saved phone numbers contact list from my old phone goes. The contact list is saved on the laptop as a txt file.

I have a Samsung Prevail sph-m820 that has problems. After the battery has been in the phone for a wile the phone starts acting up. I would assume that it is save to mess with with the rooting on this phone for practice.

Steve
I used the root method from the all things root section.
I used root app from the market to disable/freeze unwanted stock apps
I did not uninstall anything as of yet since we do not yet have working restore.

I need some help with "root_with_restore_by_bin4ry_v2win-linux.rar". I have uncompressed the rar file and installed the prog. But I can't get the prog to see the phone or root the phone. I need some instructions on how to work the prog please.

Are you rooting a hydro or the other phone you mentioned?

If the hydro
1) in system settings, developer options, set USB debugging ON
2) Install Hydro Drivers on PC
3) Plug in hydro and choose Media Transfer mode, then tap DONE
5) Run the runme.bat from the folder you extracted the RAR file to.

follow the rest of the instruction from the original rooting post
