Question Help linking Contacts to Facebook

So I just got this phone today and don't know what I'm doing. My friend has a droid (I don't know which one) but all his contacts that have a facebook are their profile pictures. I want to know how I can do that, I've tried going to sync setting>facebook>sync contacts, but that doesnt make the photos appear... Help!
