I rooted it iand removed most of the native apps. GOogle Music, for example, can be moved to your user apps with Titanium Backup and it'll save you internal space. That 1GB is GREAT, I tell you.
Furthermore, remove Google+ Application for battery life. It was using 50-70% of my battery, even in standby, so I had to charge my phone every 4-6 hours.
