You can be on the internet anywhere if you're on your WIFI or mobile network.
This is built in so you don't need a special gadget to do so.

Default WiFi coverage

You can get on the Internet with your tablet anywhere there is a WiFi signal ( I doubt there are many lakes with such a signal) or if you have another MIFi device that uses a cell phone channel to provide a WiFi signal.

Hi adrienne46,
If you do purchase yourself a LePan tablet and plan to use it to go on line, you will need to use WiFi access. If you plan to use it where there is no WiFi, there is a way by maybe signing up for your own WiFi (MiFi Hotspot) from Walmart.
