Default Quick A1 review

I have the a1. It's a simple tablet, sometimes sluggish but solid. The gps takes several seconds to fix, slower than a smartphone typically does.

I like it but I'm annoyed at a few things...

The onscreen keyboard sometimes gets in a mode where it autorepeats keys even with a very short tap.

While it will autodetect a change to landscape mode, the main menus are all hardcoded in portrait so I have to switch back and forth.

The front-facing camera produces a chalky/pixelated image even in good light. The rear camera is decent.

The soft buttons for menu, main, back are backlit but the light is always off when you need it. It's sort of a "use the force, luke" every time as I hit where I'm guessing that button is.

When you use the tablet in portrait, you'll notice your right eye gets better color and saturation from the screen than the left. I don't notice it as much now, but it was annoying.

I was excited to try webgl inside firefox. Some things work but I'm noticing most sites with webgl content are NOT touch enabled. They tell you to hit mouse button 2 or the keypad to interact. Fail.

There is no general purpose accelerometer and no compass. I didn't really expect them but it wasn't clear from the specs.

There is an orientation lock switch, but it isn't much use to lock in landscape--the orientation gets reset and locked to portrait if you open the main menu/app launcher.

It's fine as a bookreader and for basic nav. The GPS keeps up once it gets a fix.

Videoconferencing is a no-go. Google talk sends and receives video but the audio you send is scrambled. Skype claims to be sending video but it's blank. Audio echoes a lot in both cases. May be better with a headset.

Wow, thank you for your brief overview! Sounds like it wasn't up the standards
