Sad Over her 150mb data plan, but she's on WiFi at home?

My friend recently got an LG Ally Android phone and I helped her connect to her home network via WiFi. She says Verizon just sent a text telling her she's over her allocated data limit. She claims to only use Tunee a song download app and always sees the WiFi indicator saying that she's on her house network. I called Verizon for her and they said WiFi should not go against her data usage. Any ideas as to why she could be over in only like 3 weeks. She's at her home 95% of her day. I tried Tunee to test it on my Captivate, and I stayed on my home network just fine.

I typically use around 250 to to 350MB a month and have used 730MB so far this month so far after doing a factory reset and downloading everything again. Usage can get away from you quickly on a Smart Phone so I recommend a unlimited data plan.

Is GPS being used while she is away from the wifi. If so, that's data being transmitted by 3g and going against your usage. Not counting any apps which require data access to keep your information updating. Just because you aren't on facebook while you travel away from home, doesn't mean it isn't downloading and uploading information. I don't think there is any way for verizon to tell you what the data went towards, so it's just trial and error every month until you can find out which app is sucking your data.

You may want to invest in the switchpro widget app, it allows you to turn off any wireless connections like 3g, but still receive your calls and texts.
