OUTGOING "Message Not Sent" error (#1)

Hi,

Did some updating to my Contacts list...ran Back-Up Sync (which failed) and now have been unable to send OUTGOING messages...detail states "Error 1"...and "Message not sent" displayed together with a "[CB]" after the message and a red triangle with an explanation symbol.

Not sure if this is "cause and effect" but it is the sequence of events.

Have reset..removed battery several times. All other functions/apps appear to be fine.

Would appreciate any help anyone can provide.
