Default Another screwy problem

WTF is going on with my phone??

This is not the first time I've seen this. In fact, it's been doing this far more often lately. I pressed the button to see the time (because the phone was asleep or whatever) and I see a notification in the upper left window that I could remove my SD card. What? I hadn't tried to do that. So then, the phone flashed and I guess rebooted itself as I was trying to bring down my notifications.

Why does my phone tell me that either the SD card is now safe to remove or that it has been removed when it's been sitting on my kitchen table and all I do is pick it up to look at the time and then it reboots itself?

I think I'm getting disillusioned on this phone and Android in general.
