This thread is funny. Metro has to pay LG for OS upgrades, to date thats happened twice, first time was with the Huawei Ascend (2.1 to 2.2), second was with the S3. The Ascend got he upgrade because there was a tapout edition that came with 2.2 on it and it was a very popular device for whatever unknown reason, it was a pofs!!! Why the S3 got a upgrade is a no brainer. The connect will get EOL b4 Metro pays to upgrade it.
unicyclist and SegamanXero like this.

Default Problems with the Cryogenmod 10 and the LG Esteem

I have tried to install the Cyanogenmod per Playfuldroidz.com instructions.

I would give you the link to Playfuldroidz site but site rules won't let me post it because they think I am here to spam you or something.

"1. Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone)."
I did this but it appears to do no good if this information is wiped out during the Factory Reset afterwords.which I encounter later.

"2. Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)"
I tried the External SD at first which didn't pan out so well. Then I tried the Internal drive with no change in results
"3. MAKE A BACKUP!!!"
I did this after rooting my phone but I am not sure if I did it wrong or if it got wiped out after trying to re-install this several times over. Just to be on the safe side I also opened up windows after everything was rooted and copied it all to the hard drive of my computer and also uploaded it all to my google drive.
4. DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
I did this and I think it wiped all of the data you may have needed to run the mod.
One of several examples of this is not even having a qwerty keyboard when trying to manually configure the WIFI since I can't even enter the password for the network which I encounter later on.
5. Go to install zip from sdcard
6. Choose zip from sdcard
7. Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-ms910.zip
8. Confirm
I tried this too several times with the external SD first and then the internal SD when none of the attempts were fruitful. I even tried installing on top of a restored OS and the results are as follows:
Locked up on Splash screen.
Install package jumps around between asking me for a language, then asking me for my GMAIL account and appears not to accept any input from user then it locks up at WIFI or the gmail screen depending on if you tell it you want to put in the gmail account later.
In an attempt to manually put the network information in there is no keyboard
In an attempt to access the settings to pick a keyboard it shows the screen for a split second then kicks you back over to the ever looping wizard which accepts no user input.
9. Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
10. Reboot

If you guys should have any ideas on how to get this ROM running your input would be appreciated.

In my opinion:
As is the ROM does not work, some instructions are missing, or a few files could be missing in my opinion.

Suggestions:
If you are going to the extent of making a ROM to match a phone and an OS, why not already bundle it all together as one seem-less install?
If you state which files are not yours (such as a driver) I honestly do not see a problem with this as a consumer nor should it be with a company because you have not modified their drivers.
This is commonly done with drivers for other pieces of hardware on computers. Why would your use of the same software in the same capacity be any different especially if you are giving them the credit for their work?

Any ideas or help with this would be appreciated.
