Default Goodbye Connect 4G.. Hello Optimus L9.

I had been holding off on replacing my Connect for quite some time mostly because I didn't want to spend $400+ on a phone, but then I found out that Metro PCS was selling the LG Optimus L9 for $150 ($120 after rebate).

I was able to get the $30 rebate instantly from the store for setting up a new line ("What?! I can get rid of all the people I don't want to talk to anymore AND get a discount?.... JEAH!")

I am quite impressed with this Optimus L9, it has a bigger screen, comes with JB 4.1.2 and it actually feels lighter than the Connect, I also read in a few places that the L9 is virtually unbrickable.

the L9 uses T-Mobile's 4G network and ironically from the few speed tests I've run so far am getting about the same speed I was getting on Metro's 4GLTE, however I don't want to run the speed tests too much because I'm on the $40 plan. (only 500MB of 4G then throttle time)

Rooting the L9 might be considered "Moderately difficult" and from what I understand the bootloader is locked (the T-Mobile variant P769 has a rather unorthodox method of unlocking the bootloader, not sure if it'll work on Metro's S769)

Overall I'm very happy with this phone and would definitely recommend it as a cost efficient replacement/upgrade from the Connect.

i was thinking about the F3 but its not available in my local stores yet. I like that it has a better battery than the connect.

I got the l9 awhile back, tmob variant...spent like two months trying to root...finally i did 2 weeks ago, installed CWM ,going great for a day, then i lost my nandroid backup,im thinking i put it on the wrong sd....nehow..now im stuck with the security error...and just beyond frustrated...tried everything i came across to fix....no luck...but once i rooted i noticed i was on jelly bean 20f i remeber but man she was fast and smooth....talk about multi-tasker! Aww miss her...it was really smooth even onICS...but JB was a major improvement...i know i was finally able to root through JCASE's method...all the days and nights trying the other methods,aaarrrgghhhhh!!!!...ok back to my point...metro has been really putting out some killer deals on all these new phones...i picked up the zte avid 4g the huawei premia 4g(which) i totally bricked 2nd day,and the admire for 25$ the other two for 29$WOW! & i went there yesterday & and i saw l9 metro 4 129$ and the f3 4 79$...im cooking up a scheme to get that f3 i noticed its running stock jb. You know i paid 225.67$ for l9 tmob a few months ago...i really love samsung but my choice was limited at that time...great phone...extremely difficult to customize.ive only gotten into this android stuff 5-6 months ago but im hooked sick status!

The specs on the F3 aren't bad, to me that phone is pretty much what the Connect *should* have been but seeing as how I text a lot, Big fingers + small screen = bad.

Ultimately I would like to get my hands on the Optimus G Pro but MetroPCS doesn't sell those phones which means I would have to get a factory unlocked one, quick glance on the interwebs show those run for $600+... Yea I'm not paying over $200 on a phone anymore, I learned my lesson with the Connect.
