Default LG Esteem extended battery for MetroPCS $

If you're a MetroPCS fan and are eyeing the LG Esteem that we first showed you yesterday, here's a quick look at the extended battery cover that will be available at launch. No word on the exact capacity of the battery, but that hump is reminiscient of the HTC ThunderBolt's extended battery, and we'd reckon it's probably in the 2500 mAh range (at least).

Interesting - that silver strip above the camera is only on the Revolution - nice of them to photoshop a Revolution and try to pass it off as an Esteem!

Yeah, they stuck an extended Metro battery on an LG Rev! Wow.

By the way, that "silver strip" on the LG Revolution is just aesthetic. It serves no real purpose, except to make you think the speaker is that big. The LG Rev speaker (behind the case) is exactly the same as the LG Esteem. For Verizon, they just extended the grill for looks.

There's also the Mugen Power battery that doesn't require an extended battery cover. I've read some very good reviews about the Mugen battery.

Mugen Power is the worldwide leading brand of high performance batteries for portable electronic devices, they stand for Performance and Quality.

Their batteries have better performance (higher capacity) and reliability (longevity & safety) than other brands. The superior performance improves run time, often doubling that provided by the original brand replacement. The superior quality results in longer battery life and better protection of the powered device.

Checked Ebay today and found this:

LG ESTEEM MS910 ANDROID OEM CELL PHONE SMARTPHONE BATTERY & BATTERY DOOR NEW | eBay

With the fact that its the metro style one and it cost $17.95, I decided to jump on it.

The price seems a little too good to be true. I hope I didn't make a big mistake. Anyone else bought one from this seller?

I was told that the LG Revolution is the same phone. They have an extended battery and door. I purchased it when I bought my phone. It fits and works fine. I don't even use the battery my phone came with because it would only last 4 hours before the phone would die. I only paid $10 on ebay.

The only place that seeks the OEM extended battery online for that cheap us going to be cellular-g-spot which is a good seller even if used. I gif mine from them for $10 shipped used and it works like stones brand new one would. I know that there can always be a chance of a bad used barter but don't let that turn you off of it immediately because like i said, i got mine used for cheaper than that from same people and it works great. Those are the only Sellers i see of that sell the Ext. Battery for anywhere near that cheap but MY used from them work fine. No worries OPer

did i and a few others i personally know & some on here just get lucky w/the "cheap ones from Amazon"?!? i & those i personally know have had them for a few months to a month and no problems, getting double the time of the original battery and i couldn't have asked for it to work any better (well, never needing a charge? lol)

seriously - were/are we just lucky? have there been many problems for others w/these batteries?

thanks for any insight!
cheers!

this is the one we got http://www.amazon.com/LG-Extended-Capacity-3500mAh-Replacement/dp/B006MQDAOY

& considering getting this, coz of the price & i have a gift card to burn, so that'd be a LOT of extra battery, lol http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-3500mAh-for-lg-esteem-4g-bryce-ms910-extended-battery-charger-/120876001379?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c24c5686 3#ht_3517wt_1396

I really want to get the official extended battery. The phone still looks pretty cool with it, but the cheaper ones from amazon will make my phone look like a brick. All fat and hollow. I know that's shallow of me, but the fat look on the phone is not what I want to carry around.

I'm gonna hope and wait for either a new one to go on sale for around $20-25 or try to pick up a used one for $15-20. I know Verizon had a sale on theirs for $25 before.

Found a Verizon one for $30 + $2.20 shipping (LA, CA):

blaxican25 - are you saying, for you (others?), that it is lasting 2 hours longer even @ 3000mAh?
i've had mine about 2 months (3500mAh "amazon cheap one") and it is still working great and i have NO complaints, in strictly "lasting long wise". so, am i, did i just get lucky? normally, should the oem last even longer than mine? don't mean to be redundant, but w/the prices so cheap and tbh - the money isn't really a concern, but if i can get 2 that last even longer, for the price of one and the "looks" are the only downside, then so be it. and of coz, i am sure, like all tech products, some have had bad results w/all types of batteries, so this is more of a general question, statement, ramble, lol.

& i hear'ya justainchoe, regarding it looking like a brick, tho, tbh - it fits well in my hands & i don't mind it!

Oh, I didn't order the previous links. I bought the new one Blaxican linked for $17.95 shipped. I put that because I wanted to wait till next week to buy it but I couldn't pass up this price. For $18, it's almost as cheap as the generics. I believe retail for this is a ridiculous $50.

Not sure if the OEM 3000mAh will last 2 hours more than a generic 3500. It's possible that you were lucky and the generic one was done right, but often times it isn't.

How long does your battery compare to the stock 1500? Is it more than double, less than double, or basically double the stock battery? What particular make/model was it?

Ok, I ordered the extended battery two days ago and it's already arrived. It's a lot heavier than I imagined and it doesn't fit as perfect as I would've hoped. There's a small creaking sound on the hump that sticks out.

That said, overall I'm happy with my purchase. I can't wait till it charges up so that I can just go nuts on the usage without having to worry too much about battery life.

Thanks Blax for the link.

Who makes or where can I get a protective cover, hard or silicone for my LG Esteem once I go to one of these exteneded batterys with battery cover, be it aftermarket or from Metro PCS?

Unfortunately they don't make cases for the extended version. I saw a video on youtube where they get a regular case and make a cutout for the hump so that at least part of the case is protected (hump stays unprotected).

If you do decide to go this route, I recommend buying an LG Revolution case because the speaker-design of the extended battery case matches the Revolution (thin and all the way across the back).

i know it's been a few months since this was posted but there is a cover that fits the esteem.this is a pic of the one my daughter ordered and she ordered me one in black that fits the xtended battery.it's from amazon.she dropped and cracked her screen twicebefore the cover and once since she got the cover and no crack. i don't like the cover only because it makes the phone so thick but it does the job.and it's only around $3.00.take a look at it,can't go wrong for the price

Hey everyone!
I'm new to all these posts and the world of extended batteries.

I am in great need for a new battery, one that wont die on me half way through the day.
What is the greatest powered extended battery I can get for the LG esteem, and where can I buy it? I appreciate the help!

What is the greatest powered extended battery I can get for the LG esteem, and where can I buy it? I appreciate the help!
Hi JannetteNunez and welcome to Android Forums
There are many extended batteries on eBay or Amazon but just be sure to buy one from a US seller/have read some complaints on here about some fake batteries from overseas.
Check with your local Verizon store/the OEM extended for the LG revolution is the same battery for the esteem and sells for $50 or so. Verizon corporate stores run specials as well/that's how I got mine for $26 out the door

I got a 3600 extended battery w/ back cover off amazon for like $12. My battery life goes for roughly 14hrs now with moderate use and no tricks like turning off data or turning down brightness. Best investment ever lol..only downside is that my phone is obese..but I NEVER ever worry about battery life :-)

Welcome to Android Forums ElloMate
Jellybean is not available for the Esteem
There is an ongoing build of ICS going on though-still a work in process though.

I've had my Esteem since it came out. good phone, IF you're within range. Limited, if not. Metro is their first name, after all. I'd wait until after the merger with T-Mobile, as they've said us MetroPCS customers will need to buy a new handset.

OK. I looked all over the forums & this seems to be the best place for my question. Just got an extended battery at the Metro store. Yeah, I know it's expensive, so what.
When I tried to put it in, it wouldn't snap in like the oem batt. When I snapped the back cover on, it went into place. NOW, I go to plug the charger in to give it the 4 hours minimum time before use.
But when it came on, it showed it had a full charge. So I unplugged it & tried to turn it on.....dead. So, I put the charger back on & still showed a full charge.
Is that normal? Or is the battery bad?

I got two 3600mAh batteries for the Esteem; I still have one unused. I got an excellent deal, but they no longer sell the battery....
