Prior to beginning backup your contacts to your SD(Contacts-More-Import/Export-Export to SD-SD Card-Select All-Export).
Plug your phone in(Choose Internet Connection Mode) and the update tool will check your phone. The "Start Updating" will turn red when the tool is done reading the phone. As shown in the picture:
Click "Start Updating" and phone will update within 30-40 minutes.
How to verify your version: Bottom left button on your phone-Settings-About Phone-SW version BEFORE [ AFTER
Power off your phone and remove your external SD card if you have one.
Recommended that after you finish the upgrade process that you Factory Reset your phone as shown in the pics below.
Your option to "Erase the Internal SD card" just bear in mind any pictures, docs, ect will be lost if you do.
Power off the phone and reinsert your external SD and boot up.
The Google Play will update and one of the neat things about it is it not only shows what apps are currently installed on the phone(under "My Apps") but also if you scroll right shows you every app you ever downloaded while using the user specific G mail account the phone was set up with when you first activated it
As always if you have any 's post up and one of us will help you

What about when you're updating from a rooted ZVB? I heard root ZVB doesn't work on ZVD so what kind of difficulties updating should I expect
Did the same thing here when the update first came out(ZVB to ZVD).
The new version breaks root however the root for ZVC works for ZVD.
All the files are in the second part here after the D update part {GUIDE x2} Update to ZVD/Root ZVD

This might be a dumb question but do I need internet? Cause I have none at home and the reason for asking that question is because of the whole "internet connection mode thing".

Yeah you need an internet connection to download the drivers and the LG mobile support update tool to your computer. Could always use a free WiFi spot to get the two files downloaded say if you have a laptop.
The internet connection mode is referring to your phone when USB is connected to your computer

Gbiggie, Do you think if I upgrade to a zvd rom(ldrifta's) that it'll mess up my phone? Cause I havent had any reboot issues except for yesterday when it went to the metropcs screen and the day I got it but those were only 1 time things. After that the phone never rebooted.

Update via the tool first-root-install recovery first -and make a backup before anything. That way you will always have a base to go back to just in case your phone does not like some of the changes(ROMS-Themes-ect.)
I have just been running the stock ROM with a few things deleted..with the source being released for ZVD this am...the builds for ROMS/themes/kernels should be a bit more stable

Wait until you get a CPU to use to upgrade to ZVD. Being that you are on ZVC right now gives you the luxury of using almost all the available ROMs and such as they were all built from zvb/zvc.

I have a question? I'm on zvc firmware, rooted an I have no internet at all. Although I do have wifi tether, is it possibleto use the wifi tether to update it?
Or could I download the update like I did with my ascend an manually update it?

No because the phone has to be connected to the computer in order to update it(determine what your version is).
The file upload for the update is huge btw.
I updated to qvd and rooted my esteem. The question is; what are the best and safest ROM's to use? Also instructions on how to do these task properly without hurting my phone. Thanks

Thanks for that info! Finally updated it to ZVD from ZVB, which I actually had no problems at all so I'm looking forward to it. You've probably been asked this many times, but what am I looking forward to in ZVD in improvements or in general? Thanks again

Better battery life cause Lg incorporated 90% of Kanadias Homeless Kernel into ZVD. Will be smoother. More roms and themes. That abut sums it up

I wasn't going to update from ZVB to ZVD, but I was too tempted. Everything is working great so far. Thanks for these clear instructions. My phone was lagging a little on ZVB, but most likely it was because of how many apps I had (60+), So I was going to just start fresh, and decided to give ZVD a try. Everything all smooth and fast now.
Yeah so far it's running great. Actually noticed an improvement in battery life by an extra two hours. Seems to be responding smoothly in tasks. Just hated the LG stock home so I'm using 360 launcher but even I'm having doubts about that. Otherwise, update is a slight increase overall

You had said you got the USB issue solved
With the update tool it should say what version you currently have and if you need an update of version. Your cord still isn't working is my guess-can you try an alternative cord?

my bad man it did say all that and i downloaded the updates and installed them
when i thought i fixed it i changed something in devices and then windows recognized everything then i restarted and when i plugged my phone in it recognized it as UDC-AHB Subsystem so i retryed everything from the start
Know i know what i did shoulda of stopped guessing at AnyCut Modes when i couldnt turn my 4g back on so i extended my data plan lol

The only PROPER way to get the driver for this device is either...
A. If anyone knows someone with a VL600 and can copy down the driver for us
B. Someone GETS the VL600 and downloads the proper driver, then uses VZ
Access Manager and the LG VL600 Software Upgrade Tool to ENSURE we
have the most recent driver.
P.S.: This is in fact going to be a USB Tether Mode available. Enabling this
option will harm you device in ANY way. In order to attemp to install the
driver properly you MUST connect to PC, enable "Internet Connection"
mode, THEN enable "LTE USB". If you enable "TLE USB" before entering
"Internet Connection" mode the computer will not even attempt to
recognize the phone. So this means if you DO enable this option, before
you can have it connect to the computer again u MUST disable the
"LTE USB" option before your computer will recognize it.
this post from another thread saved the day lol everyone on here is great and smart as hell!

Thanks. Silly me forgot about that...my computer was always alerting me but I always ignored it. Did that and now it worked.
Is it a must to factory reset? Also...am I the only one who got Google+ and some other junk added after this?
Welcome to Android Forums Quackers
It is up to you if you want to factory reset(but a clean start on the new version is a good way to go) just make sure you have backed up text, call logs, pics, ect. that you want to keep.
Yeah all the added Google stuff is normal-if you choose to root most of it can be deleted-most of it is anyway on a few of the custom ROMs

Looks like the computer you're using may have some registry issues. Give this a try http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/registry-cleaner/
I use this products as well as some of the other free ones they have.
As for the drivers-there is a direct link to them in the OP. Prior to using them I suggest you delete the other downloads for LG in add/remove programs first then start anew.
The LG Esteem is a high-end 4G Android 2.3 phone from small carrier MetroPCS. It's a 4.3 inch device with a 1GHz processor inside. There's also 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera, a front-facing camera, an HDMI port... Read More
