Default How to turn off 4G on your LG Esteem

Hey guys! I am new to this forum, and I wanted to share with you something that has saved my life; well, my battery. It's a good and super easy way to turn off your 4G on your LG Esteem, so the cellphone runs only on 3G/1X. Here it is:

1. Go to Play Store and search for an App called "Any Cut". Download it (Obviously! )

2. After you download it, open it and choose the option that says "New Shortcut."

3. After choosing New Shortcut, select the option that says "Activity."

4. Here's the crazy part. Scroll a long way down until you find "Network Settings" (Don't worry, it's in alphabetical order, so you'll notice when you're close). NOTE: You'll find yourself with TWO (2) options that say Network Options. You MUST choose the FIRST one... The second one would be the same screen you find in "Settings."

5. After selecting it, Rename it to whatever you please (I named it "Network").

6. Select OK and done! Now you have a shortcut in your cellphone to switch to CDMA or LTE!

Now, here's one thing. When you open that shortcut, you'll find 3 options: CDMA, LTE and Hybrid Operation (Which is LTE & CDMA combined). You'll find that your phone is on Hybrid Mode right now, so when you want to switch to CDMA just select it, and your phone will reset. After this, you can enjoy more battery life without the 4G!

When you wish to go back to 4G, just select again Hybrid Operation. NOTE: Don't select the LTE option, because, in the case that you encounter an area with no 4G, you won't have any Data at all. When you select the Hybrid Operation mode, another option screen will appear with "Automatic" and "Manual". Choose AUTOMATIC so the phone will choose the 4G signal by itself (In Manual you only have one option, Verizon, so you might as well select Automatic and be happy!)

I don't know if someone posted this before, or if there's a better and easier way to do this, but this works perfect for my LG Esteem, and it was easy to do!

I hope you guys like it, have a nice day!

This is a nice tutorial but it reboots when ever you try to switch to either 3g or 4g...
I have another little tutorial if you want to switch to 3g fast without rebooting...
1. Download an app on the market called restart connections.

2. If you want to switch from 4g to 3g Without rebooting dile *#*#4636#*#* you will get a menu with 4 options click on phone information then go all the way down until you see SET PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE if you are on 4g it will say cdma/lte/evdo auto change it to cdma auto (PRL)

3. Now that you changed it press home and go to the app restart connections click it, it will restart your connection(it will not restart your phone but your connection) and you will be in 3g until you change it back...

Now to go back to 4g you do the same thing but instead of using the app restart connections you have to reboot...

Where? How? Mine says 3g/2g.
And same to the guy about ADW Launcher, how?

The anycut method sort of works for me, in that it'll turn off 4g, but I found that was the cause of my losing network connectivity after a while. I'll have 1x for a while (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours) and then it'll stop, and won't come back for anything but a reboot. With 4g enabled it doesn't stop coming back. Oh, and I've only got 1x where I am.

I still don't see it in Google Play. Maybe they removed it recently from Google Play ? You can try yourself now. Type any cut in Google Play. Is there another application that switch off 4G for a LG Esteem ?

I clicked on the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appdroid.anycut on my phone and it didn't work.
Then I typed any cut in Google Play and I couldn't find this application.
So exact keywords should I type in Google Play ?

I've tried this but the 3g randomly disappears. Switching back to hybrid automatic I get 4g/3g but they cut out after awhile. Just reflashed #2_2.1. Will try this again.

I'm using Any Cut. But there is a problem. After I'm using wifi at home and I go outside, then once in a while, I don't have internet connection so I have to restart the phone to get 3G. If I didn't use wifi, I'm sure that it would be fine. Is there another solution that would avoid this problem?

My phone is constantly in 1x I used to have good service here, but something is broken I haven't seen the 4g symbol in months.
My wifi is a lot faster though 100 megabit down 5 megabit up (upload speed sucks, but it works )

Cool

I live in sacramento and get great service. Since prl3030, i get3.5mbps consistently now...

Back to 4g. I use power widget lite to toggle data on/off to save battery. But after reading this thread, i'm going to check out any cut. Sounds interesting.

Thanks!

That's decent for sure Trek
I still have spots here only say 4 miles from the home base where it goes from no service to 1x/3g/4g within a mile on the way to work.
Guess I'm fortunate I don't live in that mile "range"
